Braincell 2: A Wild Ride Through '90s Electronic Mayhem Alright, let’s talk about Braincell 2. This album came out in '94 and it’s one of those records that feels like a time machine to the sweaty, neon-lit clubs of Germany. You know, the kind where everyone's wearing baggy jeans and tiny sunglasses despite being indoors? Yeah, that vibe. Produced by Braincell (duh) and written by Cari Lekebusch, this sucker is pure Hard Trance, Acid, and Techno goodness—three genres mashed together so well you’ll wonder if they were ever separate. The first track I gotta shout out is “Computer Controlled.” Man, this thing hits hard right from the start. It’s got these jagged synths cutting through your brain like an over-caffeinated hacker on a mission. The beat just slaps—you can feel it vibrating through your chest even at low volume. There’s something almost hypnotic about how relentless it is; it grabs hold of you and doesn’t let go until the last distorted note fades away. Honestly, every time I hear it, I’m transported back to some imaginary rave under flickering strobe lights. Like, who needs sleep when you’ve got tunes like this? Then there’s “Forbidden Forest,” which flips the script completely. If “Computer Controlled” is all sharp edges and pounding kicks, this one’s more… mysterious. It starts off slow, teasing you with eerie pads and acid squelches that sound like alien creatures whispering secrets in the dark. But then BOOM—it drops into this pulsating groove that makes you wanna lose yourself on the dancefloor. It’s moody as hell but also kinda beautiful, like staring at the stars while questioning everything. Tracks like this remind me why electronic music isn’t just noise—it’s storytelling without words. “Overload” rounds things out nicely too, though for me, it’s not quite as memorable as the other two. Still, it keeps the energy high and leaves you wanting more, which is exactly what a closer should do. What gets me thinking after listening to Braincell 2 is how raw and unapologetic it feels. These days, so much electronic music is polished to death, all shiny and perfect—but this? Nah, this is messy, chaotic, and alive. It’s like Braincell looked at the rulebook and said, “Nah, we’re doing it our way.” And honestly? That’s what makes it stick. Oh, random thought: If this album was a person, it’d probably be the type to show up late to a party, spill their drink everywhere, and somehow still be the life of the room. Just saying.
