LiViD - Aoae

Aoae by LiViD: A Nu Metal Time Capsule That Still Hits Hard Let’s get one thing straight—Nu Metal isn’t for everyone. It’s loud, messy, and sometimes feels like an emotional tornado. But when it works, man, does it ever work. Enter Aoae by LiViD, a 2010 release that feels like a raw, unfiltered scream into the void. Released independently under "Not On Label," this album doesn’t try to polish its edges or pretend to be something it’s not. And honestly? That’s what makes it stick. Right off the bat, let’s talk about “In The Moment.” Yeah, there are multiple versions of this track on the album (including two reprises), but the original version is where all the magic happens. The song kicks in with this gnarly guitar riff that just grabs you by the throat. Then comes the vocals—gritty, layered, almost desperate. You can tell whoever wrote this was going through some serious stuff. To me, it’s less of a song and more of a gut punch. Every time I hear those opening chords, I’m reminded of late nights driving nowhere in particular, trying to figure out life while the world spun too fast around me. Tracks like these don’t just play; they live inside you. Then there’s “Drain Pipe,” which hits different. If “In The Moment” is chaos wrapped in melody, “Drain Pipe” is pure catharsis. This track has this eerie undertone, like walking down a dark alley at 3 AM knowing full well trouble might find you. The mix of Rob Nadler’s production skills and John Vitellaro’s haunting art direction gives everything this cohesive vibe—as if the music and visuals bleed into each other seamlessly. By the end of the song, your chest feels tight, but in the best way possible. The rest of the album keeps up the energy, though not every track lands as hard as those two. Songs like “Precious” and “Tormential” have their moments, but they feel more like building blocks than standouts. Still, even the weaker tracks add texture to the overall experience. There’s no filler here—just honest, imperfect rock ‘n’ roll. What strikes me most about Aoae is how personal it feels. These aren’t songs crafted for radio play or TikTok virality. They’re real, raw, and deeply human. Listening to it now, over a decade later, feels like stumbling across someone’s diary from another era. Weirdly comforting, right? So yeah, Aoae won’t change your life overnight. But it might remind you of why you fell in love with music in the first place—to feel something bigger than yourself. Now, go listen to it—but fair warning: once you do, you’ll never look at drain pipes the same way again.

Interesting fact about Album

Here’s a fun fact: The album *Aoae* by LiViD is a hidden gem in the Nu Metal scene. Released in 2010, it’s intriguing how one person, John Vitellaro, handled almost all the visual elements—art direction, layout, design, and even photography. On the audio side, Rob Nadler took charge of recording and mixing. The album includes a track called *In The Moment* that appears three times in different forms, including a reprise. It’s like they wanted to stretch that moment as far as it could go!
