Review by Stephen Hayden

Touch Music Flavor 3 タッチ音楽編3: A Trip Down Memory Lane with Hiroaki Serizawa Let’s talk about Touch Music Flavor 3 タッチ音楽編3, the soundtrack that feels like flipping through an old photo album. Released in 1990 by Pony Canyon, this gem is tied to Adachi Mitsuru's iconic series "Touch." If you're into Japanese pop or stage-and-screen vibes, this one hits different—it's nostalgic yet fresh, kinda like finding your favorite childhood snack at a convenience store. The album has tracks that stick with you long after they’ve played, but two of them really got me emotional: "愛がひとりぼっち" (Lonely Love) and "涙をありがとう" (Thank You for Your Tears). "愛がひとりぼっち" just punches you right in the feels. It’s slow, it’s tender, and man, does it know how to tug at heartstrings. Every note from Hiroaki Serizawa feels like someone whispering their deepest regret into your ear. I mean, seriously, have tissues ready if you’re gonna listen to this late at night. There’s something raw about how simple the melody is—it doesn’t try too hard, but it still manages to break you. Like, wow, who hurt you, Hiroaki? Then there’s "涙をありがとう," which honestly sounds like a goodbye letter set to music. It’s bittersweet, almost like saying farewell to a friend who shaped your life without even realizing it. The piano arrangement here is so delicate; it makes you reflect on all those moments you didn’t appreciate enough back then. You know what I mean? Those little things we take for granted until they’re gone. What strikes me most about this album is how personal it feels. Sure, it’s technically a “soundtrack,” but it’s not just background noise—it tells stories. And yeah, some parts are cheesy as hell (looking at you, "ちょっと由加ちゃん!"), but isn’t that part of its charm? It’s messy, heartfelt, and unapologetically human. One random thing though—why do soundtracks from the '90s always make everything feel bigger than life? Maybe it’s because they remind us of simpler times when mixtapes were actually a thing and people wrote letters instead of texts. Or maybe it’s just me being overly sentimental again. Anyway, listening to Touch Music Flavor 3 made me realize something kinda funny: music doesn’t age—it evolves with you. So while this album might technically belong to 1990, it’ll probably keep finding new fans decades later. Who knows, maybe someday aliens will discover it floating around space and think Earthlings are secretly poets. Wouldn’t that be wild?
