Week End 10o Aniversario Vol VIII by Roberto Rodriguez – A House Gem That Still Hits Alright, let me just say this upfront: Week End 10o Aniversario Vol VIII is one of those albums that sneaks up on you. You’re not expecting much at first—just another DJ mix from 2005, right? But then it grabs hold and doesn’t let go. This isn’t some overly polished, sterile house record; no, this feels alive. Like, you can almost picture Roberto Rodriguez in the booth, hands moving over the decks like he’s painting with sound. The vibe is raw yet smooth, energetic but chill enough to keep your head nodding for hours. First off, I gotta shout out “Untitled,” because how could you not? It's kinda wild—it starts with this low-key beat, almost shy, like it’s testing the waters. Then BAM, the bassline kicks in, deep and groovy, wrapping itself around your brain. There’s something hypnotic about the way the layers build up, subtle tweaks here and there, until you’re fully submerged in its rhythm. Honestly, it’s the kind of track that makes you wanna close your eyes and just… float. Or maybe dance like nobody’s watching. Either works. And then there’s Track 4 (yeah, I don’t even know if it has a name). It’s got this funky little synth riff running through it, looping endlessly but never getting old. Every time I hear it, I think of late-night drives along empty Spanish roads, windows down, stars above. Maybe it’s the warmth of the production or the way the percussion pops against the melody—it’s hard to explain, but it sticks with you. Feels less like listening to music and more like experiencing a moment. Roberto Rodriguez really poured his soul into this one. You can tell he wasn’t trying to reinvent the wheel—he was just doing what he does best: crafting beats that make people move. And sure, the album came out nearly two decades ago, but it still bangs today. That’s the thing about good house music—it doesn’t age. It evolves, sure, but the heart stays the same. So yeah, Week End 10o Aniversario Vol VIII might not be perfect, but who cares? Perfection’s boring anyway. What matters is how it makes you feel, and this album? It makes you feel alive. Weirdly enough, while writing this review, I realized something: we need more artists willing to take risks like this nowadays. Not everything needs to scream “mainstream hit.” Sometimes, all it takes is a dude in Spain mixing tracks with love and letting the music speak for itself. Oh, and P.S.—if anyone knows where I can find more info about that "Untitled" track, hit me up. My curiosity is killing me!
