Setlist: The Very Best Of Judas Priest Live – A Thunderous Journey Through Metal’s Greatest Hits If you're a fan of riffs that could peel paint off walls and vocals sharp enough to cut glass, Setlist: The Very Best Of Judas Priest Live is your ticket to heavy metal heaven. Released in 2013 across Europe, Australia, and the US under labels like Columbia, Legacy, and Sony Music, this album isn’t just another live compilation—it’s a sweaty, headbanging love letter to decades of rock domination. Let’s get one thing straight: Judas Priest doesn’t mess around when it comes to delivering the goods live. And this setlist? It's stacked with classics so iconic they should come with warning labels for neck strain. Tracks like "Breaking the Law" and "You’ve Got Another Thing Coming" are repeated here (yes, twice each), but honestly? Nobody’s complaining because these songs slap harder than a caffeinated air drummer at a Slayer concert. Take “The Green Manalishi (With the Two-Pronged Crown)” for instance—played not once, not twice, but thrice. Each version feels like catching lightning in a bottle all over again. There’s something about Rob Halford’s banshee wail slicing through Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing’s dueling guitars that makes this cover feel alive. It’s less of a song and more of an exorcism disguised as rock 'n' roll. Every time I hear it, I half expect my speakers to start oozing green smoke. Then there’s “Beyond the Realms of Death,” which shows up twice on the tracklist—and thank goodness for that. This song is proof that heavy metal can be both brutal and beautiful. The soaring solos give me goosebumps every damn time, while Halford’s voice hits notes so high you’d think he was auditioning for Mariah Carey’s choir. Listening to this feels like floating weightlessly through space—one moment you’re serene, the next you’re being punched in the soul by pure emotion. Now, some might raise an eyebrow at the repetition across tracks. But let’s face it: If someone served you pizza three times in one meal, would you really complain if it was New York-style perfection? Same logic applies here. These aren’t mere repeats—they’re variations on a theme, each performance dripping with raw energy and crowd interaction. What strikes me most about this album is how timeless Judas Priest sounds. Even though this release came out nearly four decades after their debut, they still shred like it’s 1982. Whether it’s the galloping fury of “Freewheel Burning” or the fist-pumping anthem vibes of “Heading Out to the Highway,” everything feels fresh yet familiar. Like finding an old leather jacket in the back of your closet and realizing it fits better than ever. In conclusion, Setlist: The Very Best Of Judas Priest Live isn’t just a collection of songs—it’s a masterclass in why Judas Priest remains untouchable kings of heavy metal. Sure, there’s overlap between tracks, but who cares when the music kicks ass this hard? As I write this review, my dog keeps staring at me like I’m possessed, probably thanks to all the air guitar shredding going on. So yeah, if you want an album that’ll make your neighbors hate you in the best possible way, grab this one ASAP. Just don’t blame me if your eardrums stage a rebellion.

British Heavy Metal band preceding the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement. The band was formed in Birmingham, England in 1969 by guitarist John Perry (who died shortly after and was replaced by ), bassist , drummer , and singer , who created a band name from Bob Dylan's song ''. In 1970, guitarist Kenneth and bassist joined, replacing Chataway and Stapenhill. Drummers John Ellis and replaced Partridge. Later, in 1973, and drummer joined to replace Atkins and Campbell, respectively. A song from the last show with Atkins and Campbell and three from Halford and Hinch's first were released in 2019 on the compilation . A second guitarist, , was also added to the line-up in 1974. The line-up featuring Halford, Downing, Tipton and Hill existed between 1974 and 1990. Priest went through a number of drummers (Hinch, Alan Moore, Simon Phillips and Les Binks) between its formation and 1980 when drummer joined and stayed until 1988. In early 1990 drummer joined the band. In mid 1990 the band was taken to court over the attempted suicide of two young boys in Reno, allegedly driven by subliminal messages on its Stained Class album. The case was eventually thrown out of court. Halford left the group in 1993 to pursue a solo career. Tim "Ripper" Owens, an Ohioan tribute band singer was chosen and recorded 4 albums (2 studio, 2 live) with the band. In 2003, Judas Priests 1990 line-up was restored when Rob Halford returned to the group after rekindling the relationship during work on Judas Priests 4-CD career retrospective Metalogy. K.K. Downing left the band in 2009 and was replaced by Richie Faulkner. This line-up recorded two more studio albums before Tipton had to retire due to illness in 2018. For the Firepower tour he was temporarily replaced by Andy Sneap, making Hill and Halford the only remaining members from the band's early era.
