Borrachera Siguiendo Al Sol: A Garage Rock Gem You Didn’t Know You Needed (But Totally Do) Alright, buckle up, because we’re diving into Borrachera Siguiendo Al Sol, the 1967 album by Los Cheyenes that’s like a time machine to swinging ‘60s Spain. It’s raw, it’s gritty, and honestly? It’s kind of a mess—but in the best way possible. This isn’t your polished, overproduced pop record; this is garage rock with a side of Latin flair, served hot and sweaty on a summer night in Madrid. Why Should You Care? For starters, the genres alone are a wild ride: rock, pop, Latin—all mashed together with the finesse of someone trying to parallel park for the first time. The band hails from Spain, and they’ve got that scrappy, DIY energy down pat. Signed to RCA Victor, they weren’t exactly rolling in dough, but man, did they make noise worth hearing. And hey, if you’re into credits, shoutout to J. Mª. Garcés for writing these tunes and shredding guitar like it’s his job (spoiler: it kinda was). Also, props to R. Vercher for pulling double duty on vocals and chorus—multitasking at its finest! The Tracks That Stuck With Me Let’s zoom in on two tracks: “Siguiendo Al Sol” and “Borrachera.” Spoiler alert—they’re not just songs; they’re vibes. - “Siguiendo Al Sol”: Picture this: you’re cruising down a dusty Spanish highway in a beat-up Fiat, sunglasses on, wind in your hair. This song is your soundtrack. It’s got this infectious groove that sneaks up on you, thanks to some killer basslines courtesy of J. Vercher. The guitar riffs are sharp enough to cut glass, and R. Vercher’s vocals have this raspy charm that makes you feel like he’s lived every word he’s singing. By the time the chorus kicks in, you’ll be humming along even if you don’t speak a lick of Spanish. - “Borrachera”: Okay, so maybe the title gives it away—this one’s about getting tipsy. But don’t let that fool you; it’s not your typical party anthem. There’s something gloriously sloppy yet calculated about how the drums (courtesy of R. Colom) keep everything grounded while the guitars spiral off into chaos. It’s like watching a drunk friend try to tell a story—they might stumble, but damn, do they make it entertaining. Final Thoughts Here’s the thing about Borrachera Siguiendo Al Sol: it’s imperfect, unpolished, and utterly unforgettable. Listening to it feels like eavesdropping on a secret jam session where nobody cared about perfection—they just wanted to play. And honestly? That’s what makes it magic. Oh, and fun fact: photography for the album was handled by someone named Peiró. Whoever you are, Peiró, I hope you knew you were capturing lightning in a bottle. Because that’s exactly what Los Cheyenes delivered—a chaotic, beautiful burst of rock ‘n’ roll soul. So next time you’re feeling bored with modern music, give this one a spin. Who knows? Maybe you’ll find yourself chasing the sun—or chasing another drink—just like Los Cheyenes did back in ’67. P.S. If anyone knows where I can get a poster of Peiró’s photo, hit me up. My wall needs more vintage Spanish rock swagger.

Interesting fact about Album

Here’s something cool: The album *Borrachera Siguiendo Al Sol* by Los Cheyenes is a hidden gem from 1967. It blends rock, pop, and Latin influences with a raw garage rock edge. Fun fact—two members of the band, J. Vercher and R. Vercher, handled multiple roles. J. played bass and sang in the chorus, while R. took on vocals. The album was released in Spain under RCA Victor and features just two tracks: "Siguiendo Al Sol" and "Borrachera." It’s a snapshot of a unique moment when Spanish rock was finding its voice.
