Album Review: The Love That A Woman Should Give To A Man by Lyn Roman If you’re into smooth vocals with a mix of pop and jazz vibes, Lyn Roman’s The Love That A Woman Should Give To A Man might just hit the spot. Released under Dot Records, this US-born gem brings a cozy yet classy feel that sticks with you long after the record stops spinning. Let’s dive into a couple tracks that really stood out for me. First up is “Daddy’s Gone A-Hunting.” I gotta say, this one grabbed my attention right away. The melody has this laid-back groove to it, like sipping coffee on a Sunday morning—calm but kinda sneaky in how it pulls you in. Lyn’s voice feels warm and honest here, like she’s sharing something personal without trying too hard. It’s not flashy or overdone; instead, it lets the lyrics breathe and do their thing. You can almost picture her sitting at a piano, just letting it flow. It’s simple, but sometimes simple hits hardest. Then there’s the title track, “The Love That A Woman Should Give To A Man.” Now, don’t get me wrong—I’m not usually into songs with titles that sound like self-help book chapters. But this one? It works. There’s a jazzy undertone that gives it an old-school charm, and Lyn delivers the lines like she means every word. The way she stretches certain notes makes it feel emotional but never cheesy. By the end, you’re left wondering what kind of story inspired this tune. Was it hers? Someone else’s? Either way, it stays with you. What I love about this album is how real it feels. No crazy production tricks or auto-tuned perfection—just good ol’ heartfelt singing backed by solid musicianship. Sure, some parts could use a bit more oomph, but maybe that’s part of its charm. It doesn’t try too hard to impress; it just wants to connect. Here’s the thing though—if someone told me Lyn Roman was actually a time traveler from the ‘50s sent here to remind us how cool vocal jazz-pop can be, I wouldn’t doubt it for a second. This album feels timeless, like it belongs in another era but still fits today. Weird thought, huh? So yeah, if you’re looking for something easygoing yet meaningful, give this one a listen. Just don’t blame me if “Daddy’s Gone A-Hunting” ends up stuck in your head all day!
