Album Review: Call Me Up And I'll Come Calling On You by Marty Robbins If you’re a fan of heartfelt country tunes that feel like they were pulled straight outta some dusty old jukebox, then Marty Robbins’ Call Me Up And I’ll Come Calling On You is gonna hit the spot. Released under Columbia Records, this album dives deep into the Folk, World, & Country genre with a style that’s pure country gold—simple, soulful, and packed with emotion. Now, let me tell ya about two tracks that stuck with me after giving this record a spin. First up is “I’m Too Big To Cry.” It’s one of those songs where you can almost picture Robbins sitting on a porch somewhere, strumming his guitar while spilling his guts about heartbreak. The lyrics are raw but not overdone, and there’s something kinda comforting about how he sings it. Like, yeah, life hurts sometimes, but we all get through it. This track has a way of making you nod along even if you’ve never been in the exact situation he’s singing about. That’s the magic of Marty Robbins—he doesn’t just sing; he tells stories. Then there’s the title track, “Call Me Up (And I’ll Come Calling On You).” Man, this one feels like an old-school love letter set to music. It’s got that classic country charm, with a melody so smooth it could lull a rattlesnake to sleep. What makes it memorable for me is how genuine it sounds. You believe him when he says he’ll come running if you call. There’s no flashy production or gimmicks here—just good ol’ fashioned sincerity wrapped up in twangy guitars and Robbins’ velvety voice. This album might not change your life or anything, but it sure does remind you why country music became such a big deal in the first place. It’s real, it’s relatable, and it doesn’t try too hard to impress anyone. Listening to these songs feels like catching up with an old friend who knows exactly what to say when things go sideways. Funny thing—I was halfway through writing this review when my dog started howling along to “I’m Too Big To Cry.” Not sure if that means he loves it or hates it, but either way, it made me laugh. Maybe Marty Robbins isn’t just speaking to humans after all!
