Album Review: Bueno Remixed by Medway & Dansor
Released in 2010 under Taiwan’s Whose Haus label, Bueno Remixed by Medway & Dansor is a solid entry into the electronic music scene. With its roots firmly planted in Tech House and Progressive House styles, this remix EP delivers a punchy, groove-laden experience that feels both nostalgic and ahead of its time.
The standout track for me has to be "Bueno (Ucleden Remix)." Ucleden takes the original vibe and cranks it up with a hypnotic bassline that just grabs you. It's not overly complicated—it doesn't need to be—but the way the rhythm builds and drops keeps your feet moving. There's something raw about it; it feels like it was made for those late-night moments when the crowd is locked in and no one wants the night to end. The subtle tweaks in percussion give it an edge, making it memorable without being overproduced.
Another gem on the EP is "Bueno (Blue Room Project Mix)." This version leans more into atmospheric territory, layering lush pads with a driving beat. What sticks out here is the tension—the kind that makes you lean forward, waiting for the payoff. And boy, does it deliver. Around the halfway mark, everything lifts off, leaving you floating in this euphoric soundscape. If I had to pick a moment where the album truly shines, it’d be right there.
Now, don’t get me wrong, "Bueno (Silinder Remix)" holds its own too. It’s darker, grittier, almost industrial at points, but still retains that dancefloor energy. But honestly? After hearing Ucleden and Blue Room Project’s takes, Silinder’s remix feels a bit predictable. Still solid, though—just not as unforgettable.
What strikes me most about Bueno Remixed is how cohesive it feels despite the variety. Each remix brings something unique while staying true to the spirit of the original. You can tell Medway & Dansor trusted their collaborators to push boundaries, and it paid off big time.
Here’s the kicker: knowing this came out of Taiwan adds another layer of intrigue. Back then, Taiwanese artists weren’t getting much global attention in the electronic scene. Yet here we have a release that could easily hold its own against European labels. Makes you wonder what other hidden gems are out there, doesn’t it?
In short, Bueno Remixed isn’t perfect, but it doesn’t have to be. Sometimes all you need is a handful of killer tracks to leave a lasting impression. And hey, who knew Taiwan would drop such a banger? Definitely worth revisiting if you’re into Tech House vibes with a twist.
