Nine Eleven - Sentinels

Sentinels by Nine Eleven: A Punk-Rock Odyssey Worth Your Time If you’re into raw, unfiltered rock with punk and hardcore vibes, Sentinels by Nine Eleven is an album that’ll grab your attention like a sneaky mosquito bite on a summer night. Released in 2016 under labels like Tokyo Jupiter Records (Japan) and Mustard Moustache (France), this record doesn’t mess around. It’s got grit, heart, and enough musical layers to keep things interesting without feeling overdone. Let me break it down for ya. The band pulls together some serious talent—like Antoine handling both bass and drums (talk about multitasking!), Jeff and Richard shredding guitars, and Julien bringing the vocals to life. Oh, and let’s not forget the cello by Athénaïs Ropéro or Dahwd Le Meur’s violin adding unexpected textures. That mix of punk energy and orchestral touches? Yeah, it works. Big time. Now, onto the tracks. There are nine songs here, but two stood out to me so much they’ve been stuck in my head like gum under a chair. First up: "From The Field To The House." This one kicks off strong with pounding drums and gnarly guitar riffs that feel like someone just flipped a light switch inside your brain. Julien’s voice has this raspy urgency, like he’s trying to tell you something important before the world ends. And then there’s the cello creeping in—it’s subtle at first, but man, when it hits, it adds this haunting vibe that makes the whole thing unforgettable. I kept replaying this track because it felt like a punch to the gut in the best way possible. Then there’s "War On Earth, Peace In Mind," which flips the script a bit. It starts slower, almost meditative, but don’t get too comfy—it builds into this chaotic explosion of sound. The trumpet solo by Simon Deslandes caught me completely off guard, in a good way. Like, wait…is this still the same album? Yup, it is. Somehow, they make all these contrasting elements work together like peanut butter and jelly. By the end, you’re left wondering if you just witnessed a battle or found inner peace. Maybe both? What really sticks with me about Sentinels is how it balances chaos and calm. One moment you’re headbanging like nobody’s watching, and the next, you’re zoning out to strings and horns. It’s unpredictable, sure, but isn’t that what makes great music? Plus, knowing that Nick Zampiello mastered this beast gives it even more credibility—he’s worked with some heavy hitters, so yeah, trust the process. Here’s the kicker though: listening to this album made me realize how rare it is to find bands willing to blend genres so fearlessly. Punk, hardcore, classical influences—it shouldn’t work, but somehow it does. And honestly, it kinda feels like discovering a hidden gem in a thrift store. You weren’t looking for it, but now you can’t imagine life without it. So, give Sentinels a spin. Whether you’re blasting it through headphones while walking home or cranking it up during a late-night drive, it’s bound to leave its mark. Just don’t blame me if you start air-drumming in public—it’s contagious.

Here’s an interesting fact: The album *Sentinels* by Nine Eleven is a wild mix of punk and hardcore rock, but what makes it stand out is its global flavor. Released in 2016, it brought together musicians from Japan and France, blending their unique styles under labels like Tokyo Jupiter Records and Mustard Moustache.
