De Moan Estoy Sentado Aqui by Rowwen Hèze & Los Lobos: A Wild Ride Through Folk Rock and Ballads Let’s get one thing straight—this album ain’t for the faint-hearted. Released in 2000 under HKM, De Moan Estoy Sentado Aqui smashes together Pop, Rock, Folk Rock, and Ballad vibes with enough grit to make you sit up and take notice. Rowwen Hèze teams up with Los Lobos here, and holy crap, does it work. It's raw, unfiltered, and hits harder than a drunk sailor on Friday night. First off, let’s talk about the title track, “De Moan / Estoy Sentado Aqui.” Yeah, yeah, I know it sounds like someone mashed two random songs together—and they kinda did—but damn if it doesn’t stick in your brain like gum under a school desk. The live version is where the magic happens. You can almost smell the sweat dripping off the stage as Cesar Rosas’ guitar riffs tear through Jack Poels’ heartfelt lyrics. It’s messy, chaotic, but somehow still smooth as hell. That mix of Dutch and Spanish? Bold move, but it works so freakin’ well you’ll forget English even exists. Then there’s the studio cut of the same song—less wild, more polished, but no less impactful. Producer Peter Vincent and Rob van Donselaar clearly knew what they were doing when they kept that raw edge intact. Engineer Frank Mathijssen deserves props too; the clarity of every note makes you feel like you’re sitting right next to the band while they jam. And don’t even get me started on the vocals—it’s like they’re screaming directly into your soul without asking permission first. The rest of the album follows suit, blending genres like a mad scientist mixing chemicals. Tracks flow between punchy folk rock anthems and slow-burning ballads that hit you right in the feels. But honestly, after hearing those two versions of the title track, everything else feels secondary. Not bad, just… not as unforgettable. What really ties this whole thing together is the artwork by Zeezeilen (Amsterdam represent!) and Ger Peeters’ photography. Those visuals? Perfectly imperfect, just like the music itself. Management guy Henk Van Heijster and booking dude Rob De Jong must’ve been working overtime to pull this collab off because trust me, this isn’t something you stumble upon accidentally. So yeah, De Moan Estoy Sentado Aqui might not be perfect, but who cares? Perfection’s overrated anyway. This record reminds you that music doesn’t need to follow rules to kick ass. If anything, its flaws are what make it memorable. Here’s the kicker though—listening to this album made me realize how much we miss out on when we stick to our comfort zones. Who would’ve thought a Dutch-Latin fusion could slap this hard? Now excuse me while I go find some more weird sht to listen to.

About Rowwen Hèze Los Lobos

Dutch dialect band, formed in the village America, in northern Limburg, and named after an infamous local villager from the early 20th century. Rowwen Hèze rose to fame regionally during the 1980s with comedic protest songs, before becoming popular nation wide in 1992 with their hit song 'Bestel Mar', as well as their televised performance at the Pinkpop festival. They're the most successful dialect group of The Netherlands.

they're from a small township named America in the Southern Dutch province of Limburg. Although they sing in North Limburg dialect which most people from Holland will not understand they achieved national recognition for the atmosphere and musical quality and diversity in their music, mainly with simple texts. They have performed with various international celebrities over the years as their music style and instruments merge very well with various musicians and artists like Flaco Jimenez.
