Review by Richard Alesky

Our Paths Related by The Society Of Rockets: A Scrappy Sonic Ride That’ll Knock You Sideways Alright, let’s cut the crap. Our Paths Related is one of those albums that sneaks up on you like a stray cat in an alley—scruffy but full of attitude. Released back in 2016 under Underpop Records and Three Ring Records, this US-born beast straddles Alternative, Pop, and Pop/Rock with all the grace of someone stumbling outta a dive bar at 2 AM. It's messy, raw, and unapologetically itself. And yeah, it’s kinda unforgettable. First off, can we talk about “California’s Burning”? Yeah, they slap that track on there twice (maybe because even once wasn’t enough). This tune hits hard—it’s got this jittery energy that feels like your brain short-circuiting while scrolling through bad news online. The guitars buzz like wasps trapped in a jar, and the vocals are just unhinged enough to make you feel something real for once. If California burning down doesn’t wake you up, then maybe this song will. By the time it loops around again on the tracklist, you’re either pissed or hooked. Probably both. Then there’s “Bearfoot in the Head” (or as it awkwardly repeats later, “Barefoot in the Head”—what gives, guys?). This one sticks because it’s weird as hell. Like, who else would mix crunchy riffs with lyrics so cryptic you start questioning if you’ve been living life wrong? There’s this nagging groove that digs into your skull and won’t let go. Credit goes to Chris Cline and Jay Pellicci for mixing this chaos into something listenable without sanding off its rough edges. It’s like biting into a burger that looks burnt but tastes amazing anyway. The rest of the album keeps throwing punches too. Tracks like “Walk With Lions” and “Teenage Gears” keep the momentum alive, though nothing else quite matches the punch-to-the-gut vibe of “California’s Burning” or the WTF factor of “Bearfoot in the Head.” Still, props to The Society Of Rockets for not phoning it in—they sound like they’re having fun making noise, which is more than I can say for half the bands out there. So here’s the kicker: listening to Our Paths Related feels less like hearing an album and more like eavesdropping on some late-night jam session where everyone involved forgot to care what anyone thinks. Maybe that’s why it works. Or maybe it’s just dumb luck. Either way, it’s refreshing as hell in a world full of overproduced snooze-fests. Final thought? Screw genres—they don’t matter when music feels this alive. Oh, and whoever decided to name their label “Three Ring Records” deserves a medal. Circus vibes forever.

About The Society Of Rockets

Interesting fact about Album

Here’s a fun fact: The album *Our Paths Related* by The Society Of Rockets has not one, but two tracks named "California's Burning." It’s like they really wanted to drive the point home—pun totally intended. Released in 2016 under Underpop Records and Three Ring Records, this alt-pop gem was mixed by Chris Cline and Jay Pellicci. Oh, and if you’re wondering about the tracklist, it’s got some quirky repeats too, like "Bearfoot in the Head" showing up twice. Maybe it’s their way of saying, “Listen again—you missed something!”
