Burn It Up Limited Remix by The Beatmasters Featuring PP Arnold – A Retro Acid House Gem Alright, let’s dive into this funky little slice of 1988 UK goodness. Burn It Up Limited Remix is one of those albums that doesn’t try too hard but still slaps harder than your morning alarm clock (you know the one). Released under Rhythm King Records, it’s got that raw Acid House energy mixed with PP Arnold’s soulful vibes—like peanut butter and jelly for your ears. The standout tracks here are definitely “Burn It Up (Chico’s Refry)” and its sibling “Burn It Up (Refried Chico).” These two feel like remixes on steroids—or maybe just really strong coffee. They take the original track and twist it up in ways that make you wanna move, even if you’re just sitting at your desk pretending to work. Chico 'El Cordobez' clearly had some fun behind the mixing board because these versions pulse with hypnotic beats and squelchy synths that scream late-night warehouse vibes. You can almost picture people losing their minds on a dimly lit dancefloor somewhere in London. What makes these tracks stick? First off, PP Arnold’s vocals. She brings this warm, raspy charm that cuts through all the electronic chaos without breaking a sweat. Then there’s the acid bassline—it wriggles around like a snake on roller skates, keeping things unpredictable yet groovy as hell. Honestly, I couldn’t tell you which version I prefer; they’re both equally addictive. One minute you’re vibing to “Chico’s Refry,” and the next you’re deep into the tweaked-out madness of “Refried Chico.” It’s like choosing between pizza or tacos—it’s impossible! Credit where it’s due: James Reynolds nailed the engineering, and the whole crew—M. Glanfield, P.P. Arnold, P. Carter, R. Walmsley—deserve props for crafting something so timeless. Even though this album dropped over three decades ago, it feels fresh enough to soundtrack any modern rave or chill hangout session. Reflecting on Burn It Up Limited Remix, it’s wild how music like this sticks around. Acid House might’ve been born in the ‘80s, but its heart beats louder than ever today. And honestly? If someone told me aliens landed in the UK back then and helped produce this album, I wouldn’t question it. There’s something otherworldly about how smooth and sharp it sounds. So yeah, grab your neon leg warmers and crank this baby up—you won’t regret it.

About The Beatmasters Featuring PP Arnold

British producer trio who enjoyed considerable success in the late 80's/early 90's. As well as producing Yazz' smash hit "Stand Up For Your Love Rights" in 1988, they also landed several Top 20 hits under the Beatmasters moniker with a series of guest vocalists: The Cookie Crew ("Rok Da House"), Betty Boo ("Hey DJ / I Can't Dance (To That Music You're Playing)"), Merlin MC ("Who's in the House") and P.P. Arnold ("Burn It Up"). These hits were all featured on their debut album "Anywayawanna". After their second album "Life & Soul" (1991), The Beatmasters ditched their own recording career in favour of production work and remixes for artists such as The Shamen, Moby, Erasure, Pet Shop Boys and Marc Almond.

Fantastic memories of dancing to this in the late eighties at The Academy nightclub in Boscombe, Bournemouth as their huge lighting rig slowly lowered from way up high and hovered over the dance floor.
