Alright, let’s dive into this album, Violinkonzert Nr.2 Op.61 / Violinkonzert Nr.2 Op.22 by Szymanowski and Wieniawski. It’s one of those classical gems that just sneaks up on you when you least expect it. Released in 2016 under Philips (UK & Europe), it’s got Henryk Szeryng on violin, Bamberger Symphoniker backing him up, and Jan Krenz waving the conductor’s baton. The whole thing kinda feels like stepping into a time machine where Romantic vibes meet Modern twists. First off, shoutout to the engineers—Frans van Dongen and Willem Van Leeuwen—for making these tracks sound so crisp. And props to Ben Wiseman, Craig Thompson, and Paschal Byrne for mastering this beauty. Honestly, if you’re into classical music but also dig how polished modern production can be, this’ll hit the spot. Now, onto the tracks. I gotta say, “I Allegro Moderato” from Violin Concerto No. 2, Op. 61 really stuck with me. There’s something about the way Szeryng plays here—it starts all calm and collected, then BAM, the orchestra kicks in, and suddenly you’re swept away. You know those moments when you’re zoning out while doing dishes or whatever, and then a piece grabs your attention? That happened. Like, whoa, hold up, what is THIS?! The interplay between the solo violin and the orchestra is tight as heck, almost like they’re having an intense conversation without saying a word. It's dramatic but not over-the-top cheesy, which is rare for some classical stuff. Another standout track is “III Rondo: Allegro Spirituoso” from Wieniawski’s Violin Concerto No. 2 in D Minor, Op. 22. This one has serious swagger. If the first track was more introspective, this one feels like a party starter from another century. Szeryng absolutely shreds on the violin—it’s fast, flashy, and fun as hell. You can tell he’s enjoying himself, and honestly, it makes ME enjoy myself too. By the end, I was like, dang, why don’t we have concertos like this at parties anymore? The rest of the album follows suit—mixing lush Romantic melodies with sharp, energetic bursts—but those two tracks are what stayed stuck in my head long after the music stopped. Maybe it’s because they feel like opposites yet still gel perfectly together. Or maybe it’s just that Szeryng had magic fingers. Who knows? Here’s the weird part though—the more I listened, the more I realized how timeless this stuff feels. Sure, it’s technically old-school classical, but there’s an edge to it that could easily vibe alongside today’s experimental electronic stuff. Imagine dropping bits of this into a DJ set—it’d blow minds. Not sure if anyone’s tried that yet, but hey, someone should! Anyway, give this album a spin if you’re looking for something classy but not boring. Just don’t blame me if you start air-conducting in your living room.

Interesting fact about Album

Here’s something cool: The album *Violinkonzert Nr2 Op61 Violinkonzert Nr2 Op22* is a treasure for classical music fans. It features violinist Henryk Szeryng, who was not only a brilliant performer but also a polyglot, speaking seven languages fluently! This 2016 reissue combines works by Szymanowski and Wieniawski, two composers who pushed the boundaries of violin music. Fun fact—Szeryng once said he felt closest to the music of Bach and Brahms, yet his interpretations of these Romantic and Modern pieces are breathtakingly unique.
