Various - Disco Galaxia

Review by Jonathan Davis

Disco Galaxia: A Wild Ride Through Italo-Disco Space Alright, buckle up, because Disco Galaxia by Various isn’t your grandma’s playlist—it’s a neon-lit joyride through the heart of Italo-Disco madness. Released in 2006 on some no-name label (seriously, "Not On Label"? Bold move), this album doesn’t just dip its toes into electronic vibes; it cannonballs straight into the deep end. And yeah, sure, it’s got that classic '80s retro-futuristic sheen, but trust me, it hits different. Real different. First off, let’s talk about “Take A Chance (Extended 12” Version)”—this track is an absolute beast. From the second those synths kick in, you’re not just listening anymore; you’re living it. The beat punches harder than most modern EDM crap out there, and the vocals? Damn near hypnotic. You can practically feel the strobe lights flashing as this one takes over the room. If I had to pick one reason why people still lose their minds over Italo-Disco, this would be it. It’s like they bottled pure adrenaline and slapped a drum machine behind it. Then there’s “Robot Is Systematic.” What even IS this? This track feels like someone hacked a robot’s brain and made it DJ at a Berlin underground club circa 1984. Cold, mechanical, yet somehow groovy as hell. Every bassline slaps with surgical precision, and the melody loops around your skull until you forget what year it is. Honestly, if robots could cry, this song would make them weep tears of hydraulic fluid. Like… damn. The rest of the tracks hold their own too—shoutout to “Feels Good (Carrots & Beets Dub)” for being weirdly wholesome while still sounding like a cyborg rave—but these two stand out like glitter on a leather jacket. They remind you why music doesn’t need to try so hard to impress. Sometimes all it needs is guts, grit, and a fuck-ton of synthesizers. So here’s the kicker: Disco Galaxia shouldn’t work. An unofficial label release from 2006 packed with old-school Italo-Disco cuts? Sounds like a recipe for obscurity. But guess what? It does work. Hell, it thrives. Maybe it’s nostalgia, maybe it’s aliens whispering sweet melodies into our ears, or maybe—just maybe—it’s proof that great music doesn’t care about rules. Now go listen before I change my mind and delete this whole review.

Interesting fact about Album

Did you know? The album *Disco Galaxia* is a hidden gem in the world of Italo-Disco. Released in 2006, it’s packed with tracks that blend retro vibes and futuristic beats. One standout track, *Theme From "The Warriors"*, gives a nod to the cult classic film while keeping that electronic edge sharp. And check out *Take A Chance (Extended 12" Version)*—it’s the kind of song that makes you want to dance like nobody’s watching. The whole album feels like a love letter to synth-driven creativity. Plus, it came out on an independent label, proving big sounds don’t always need big names behind them.
