Hits From English Records: A Timeless Polish Gem That’ll Stick With Ya Alright, so you’re probably wondering what’s up with this 1977 album Hits From English Records by Various. It’s not exactly a chart-topper in most people’s collections, but hear me out—this thing has got some charm. Released in Poland under the Polskie Nagrania Muza label, it’s a quirky mix of rock and pop tunes that lean heavy into the pop-rock vibe. The design by St. Żakowski gives it that retro Eastern European flair, while Adam Halber adds some liner notes that make you feel like you’re reading your grandpa’s diary. Cool, right? Now, let’s get to the tracks. There are 14 songs here, and honestly, they’re hit or miss (pun intended). But two tracks really stuck with me after giving this album a spin. First off, there’s “Cruisin’ With The Fonz.” Yeah, I know—it sounds like something straight out of an old-school sitcom intro. And guess what? That’s exactly why it works! This tune feels like cruising down a sunny highway in a convertible, even if you’ve never been outside Poland. It’s upbeat, kinda silly, and way too catchy for its own good. I found myself humming it all day, which is saying something because I usually forget lyrics five seconds after hearing them. Then there’s “Ghost Of Love,” which hits different. If “Cruisin’” is all about carefree vibes, this one slows things down and gets kinda moody. The melody feels haunting, like someone whispering secrets from another dimension. It’s weirdly poetic, especially compared to the rest of the album, which leans more toward fun bangers than emotional depth. Props to whoever wrote this track—it doesn’t quite fit, but man, does it stand out. The other songs, like “Crinoline Rock” and “Lamplight Lady,” are solid enough, though nothing groundbreaking. They remind me of those random compilation CDs you’d pick up at a garage sale just to see what’s on ‘em. Fun? Sure. Memorable? Not so much. What makes Hits From English Records special isn’t just the music—it’s the whole package. You can tell someone put effort into making this thing feel unique, even if the songs themselves aren’t gonna change your life. Plus, how often do you come across a Polish take on British/American pop-rock from the '70s? Feels like finding a hidden treasure in a thrift store. Here’s the kicker though—listening to this album made me realize how much we take music curation for granted these days. Back then, putting together a collection like this was an art form. Today, we’ve got algorithms doing the work for us, spitting out playlists based on who-knows-what. Weird, huh? Anyway, if you’re into digging through obscure albums, give Hits From English Records a shot. Just don’t blame me if “Cruisin’ With The Fonz” gets stuck in your head for weeks.

Когда-то на мелодию "Letters of love" я написал такие слова:

С дружком третий час в пивной сидим,
