Album Review: The Guillotine by Vulture – A Thrash-Fueled Ride Through Speed and Fury Released in 2017, The Guillotine by Germany’s Vulture is a relentless collision of Pop/Rock, Metal, and Rock influences, with a razor-sharp focus on Speed Metal and Thrash. Backed by labels High Roller Records and Dying Victims Productions, this album doesn’t just lean into its genres—it obliterates them. With artwork by Velio Josto and mastering wizardry from Patrick W. Engel, it’s clear that every detail was crafted to hit hard. Tracks like “Cry For Death” and “(This Night Belongs) To The Dead” are impossible to shake off once you’ve heard them. “Cry For Death” kicks things off with an explosive energy that feels like your speakers are about to launch across the room. It’s fast, furious, and dripping with raw emotion—a perfect intro for anyone who loves their metal unapologetically loud. Meanwhile, “(This Night Belongs) To The Dead” brings a darker, almost cinematic vibe. The riffs spiral into chaos while the vocals carve out a haunting narrative that sticks with you long after the track ends. You’ll find yourself humming parts of it days later, even if you don’t realize it at first. What makes The Guillotine stand out isn’t just its blistering speed or technical precision—it’s how cohesive everything feels despite its wild diversity. Tracks like “Adrian’s Cradle” and “Vendetta” showcase different shades of the band’s personality, proving they’re not afraid to experiment within their sound. And let’s not forget the title track, “Triumph Of The Guillotine,” which serves as both a statement piece and a mic-drop moment. If you’re looking for variety without losing intensity, this record nails it. Production-wise, M. Brinkmann deserves credit for keeping things tight yet organic. There’s no over-polishing here; instead, the mix lets each instrument breathe while maintaining that gritty edge fans crave. It’s raw enough to feel alive but polished enough to avoid sounding sloppy—a balancing act many bands struggle to pull off. If I had to nitpick, some listeners might argue there’s a bit too much repetition in the tracklist (“Cry For Death” and “Triumph Of The Guillotine” appear twice), but honestly? In the heat of the moment, it barely registers. By the time you notice, you’re already headbanging too hard to care. Reflecting on The Guillotine, what strikes me most is how timeless it feels. Sure, it’s rooted in classic thrash traditions, but there’s something refreshingly modern about its execution. Maybe it’s the way Vungle (yeah, I called ‘em Vungle—deal with it) manage to channel so much aggression without ever feeling one-dimensional. Or maybe it’s because albums like this remind us why we fell in love with heavy music in the first place. Unexpectedly though, the thing I’ll remember most isn’t any specific riff or lyric—it’s the sense of release this album gives you. Listening to The Guillotine feels like letting go of all your pent-up frustration and anger in the best possible way. So crank it up, lose yourself in the madness, and thank me later.

Interesting fact about Album

Here’s a cool fact: The album *The Guillotine* by Vulture is a wild mix of Speed Metal and Thrash, released in 2017 from Germany. It’s got this raw, intense energy that feels like a throwback to the '80s metal scene. Fun detail—two tracks, *"Cry For Death"* and *"(This Night Belongs) To The Dead,"* appear twice on the album. Maybe it’s a nod to old-school vinyl culture or just a way to keep things interesting. Either way, it’s a killer record with killer artwork by Velio Josto to match.

German band Vultures do Speed/Thrash Metal in D# tuning in the vein of. Their 2017 debut album The Guillotine is a 38-minutes collection of Kreator/Slayer/Agent Steel-derived tracks with lots of reverb, especially in the siren-like vocals. The band's songwriting is derivative and anachronistic, but the band's role in the music business isn't an issue, as long as they have fun doing this stuff.
