- About Me: Devonte Coles better and musically known as "Vonnie EC", is an up and coming hip hop artist hailing from the underground rap music scene in Northwest Indiana. Vonnie EC born and raised in East Chicago Indiana started writing rhymes and making recreational tape recordings from a karaoke machine at an early age due to his early influences such as Snoop Dogg and Bone Thugs and Harmony. 2004 is the year Vonnie EC decided to pursue a music career in hip hop.
Since 2005 Vonnie EC has recorded and release four mixtapes to date: "Gloves Off"(2005), "Land o Lakes" (2006), "Thinking Out Loud" (2010) and currently released mixtape "Shadow In The Shade" (2011). Vonnie EC has also featured on numerous volumes of Northwest Indiana's most well known underground rap compilation series "Midwest Mobstaz" and a slew of collaborations with Northwest Indiana's most well known artists. Last but not least, Vonnie EC has also opened up shows for Twista, Freddie Gibbs and Tity Boi.
Along with performing and building his stage presence at numerous local nite spots and venues, Vonnie EC continues to grow as an artist while cultivating his sound and artistry. Vonnie EC still continues to pride himself on lyricism in a day and age where the art form of lyricism in today's hip-hop has seem to take a back seat. "Nobody is perfect and no one will ever be perfect, but as long as you continue strive for perfection with your art, you will definitely grow and continue to build as an artist" says Vonnie EC. With influence from hip hop's most influential MC's and a rap style rich in diversity along with powerful messages delivered through dope rhymes, Vonnie EC is soon sure to secure a position amongst hip hop's known and elite.
