The Reprogramming Project: A Glitchy Love Letter to Broken Beats Alright, let me just say this upfront—The Reprogramming Project by Cacheflowe, Wayne Winters & Scaffolding is one of those albums that sneaks up on you. Released in 2008 under Plastic Sound Supply, it’s not your typical electronic record. It’s messy, fragmented, and kinda beautiful in its own weird way. If glitch and broken beat are your thing, buckle up because this album feels like a chaotic yet oddly satisfying brain massage. Let’s dive into two tracks that stuck with me long after the first listen. First off, there’s A Dreary Flight Over The Datascape (Scaffolding Remix). Man, this track hits different. It starts off all moody and atmospheric, like you're floating through some dystopian data cloud. Then BAM—it drops into these jagged beats that feel like they’re falling apart but somehow still hold together. Scaffolding really outdid himself here; every little click and stutter feels intentional, like he’s whispering secrets directly into your headphones. I remember listening to this late at night, staring at my ceiling, feeling both anxious and comforted at the same time. Weird combo, right? But isn’t that what great music does? Makes you feel things you can’t quite put words to? Then there’s Precious Moments (Cacheflowe Remix). Oh man, this one’s got layers for days. You think it’s gonna be soft and dreamy based on the title, but nah, Cacheflowe flips the script hard. There’s this warped melody looping around glitchy percussion that makes you wanna move but also scratch your head a bit. It’s playful but kinda haunting too, like nostalgia gone wrong. Every time I hear it, I picture old VHS tapes melting in slow motion. And honestly? That visual sticks with me more than most songs ever could. What I love about this album is how collaborative it feels. Each artist brings their own flavor to the table without stepping on each other’s toes. Wayne Winters’ remixes have this gritty edge, while Scaffolding leans into intricate sound design. And Cacheflowe? Dude knows how to twist a track until it breaks open in the best possible way. Kudos to Audible Oddities for mastering and The Simulacra for mixing—all those tiny details pop out when you least expect them. So yeah, The Reprogramming Project isn’t perfect. Some tracks drag a little, and if you’re not into glitchy stuff, parts might feel overwhelming. But damn if it doesn’t leave an impression. Listening to it feels like hacking into a system only to find poetry hidden in the code. Here’s the kicker though—this album came out in 2008, before everyone had Spotify playlists tailored to their moods. Back then, finding something this raw and experimental took effort. Now? It’d probably get lost in the algorithm shuffle. Kinda ironic for an album so obsessed with tech and fragmentation, huh? Anyway, give it a spin if you’re tired of polished nonsense and want something real. Just don’t blame me if it messes with your head.

About Cacheflowe, Wayne Winters & Scaffolding

Mashing up idm, dubstep, hip hop, experimental, funk, drum and bass, jazz, techno and more, CacheFlowe creates genre-skewing electronic music that's received acclaim from local and international press. Producing with a computer since 1996, he's honed an original style that's defined by stuttery, complex breakbeats, deep analog basslines, techno-flavored synths, organic instrumentation and contorted samples. Working on the same laptop performance since early 2004, CacheFlowe's live show is a fast-paced smorgasbord of chopped breakbeats and analog synths on 8 channels of audio. He bobs and weaves through an array of electronic genres and tempos, using nothing but sounds and loops from his own productions. Having recently added original audio-reactive visual projections to the live act, he quickly received the "Best Audio/Visual Performer" award from Denver's esteemed Westword magazine. Appearing on official releases alongside the likes of Daedelus, Starkey, Ladytron, Ulrich Schnauss, Mochipet, Twine, Machinedrum, ISAN, Submerged and Fog, and sharing the stage with Amon Tobin, Solvent, edIT, Machinedrum, Dizzee Rascal, Rusko, Jeff Parker (Tortoise), DJ Olive (MMW, Sonic Youth), Nels Cline (Wilco) and countless local talents, CacheFlowe continues to freak the beat in new and exciting ways. n

Interesting fact about Album

Here’s something cool: *The Reprogramming Project*, an electronic album from 2008, is like a team effort on steroids. Cacheflowe, Wayne Winters, and Scaffolding joined forces to create this glitchy, broken beat masterpiece. What’s wild is how they remixed each other’s tracks. For example, "A Dreary Flight Over The Datascape" got not one, not two, but THREE different remixes—each with its own vibe. Scaffolding handled mixing all their tracks, while Audible Oddities mastered the whole thing. It’s like a musical round-robin, with everyone leaving their mark. Released in the US under Plastic Sound Supply, it’s a gem for glitch fans.
