Detroit Rider: An Icon Reborn – A Wild Ride Through Electro and Hip-Hop Bliss Alright, buckle up, folks. We’re diving into DJ Di’jital’s Detroit Rider: An Icon Reborn, a 2014 gem that screams “I’m here to electrify your eardrums.” Released under Di’jital Axcess (how meta is that?), this album blends Electronic beats with Hip-Hop swagger like peanut butter and jelly—except way more futuristic. It’s got styles ranging from Electro bangers to Cut-up/DJ wizardry, plus some Techno vibes thrown in for good measure. And let me tell you, it's one heck of a ride. First things first: the tracklist reads like a mixtape made by someone who knows exactly how to keep the party alive. Tracks like Where My Dawgs At? slap harder than your grandma’s famous meatloaf recipe. The beat hits you right in the chest, demanding you move. I mean, seriously, if this song doesn’t make you wanna shout or at least nod vigorously, check your pulse—you might be broken. Then there’s Electric Kingdom. Oh man, this one sticks with ya. Imagine cruising through neon-lit streets in a cyberpunk dream while robots cheerlead from the sidelines. That’s what this tune feels like. It’s got layers upon layers of synth magic, each note dripping with nostalgia but still fresh enough to slap. If Daft Punk and Afrika Bambaataa had a secret love child, this would be its anthem. The rest of the album? Equally solid. You’ve got club-ready jams like Move Yo Body and introspective grooves like Down. Even deeper cuts like Clear show off DJ Di’jital’s knack for crafting soundscapes that feel both retro and ahead of their time. But honestly, every track could probably get its own rave review. This dude didn’t just press play—he chopped, screwed, and reimagined these beats until they were pure gold. What makes Detroit Rider stand out isn’t just the music itself; it’s the vibe. Listening to this feels like stepping into a world where everything’s slightly off-kilter but totally intentional. Like wearing mismatched socks on purpose because hey, why not? There’s heart here, mixed with a healthy dose of “I don’t care what you think.” So yeah, hats off to DJ Di’jital for delivering something that’s as chaotic as it is cohesive. By the end of the album, you’ll either be sweating from dancing too hard or sitting back thinking, “Wow, that was… unexpected.” Either way, mission accomplished. Final thought: If aliens ever invade Earth, we should blast Electric Kingdom as humanity's closing argument. They’d either leave us alone out of respect or ask for an encore.

About DJ Di'jital

The open-minded attitude of understanding the World of Jazz, Soul, Funk, Disco and even Hip Hop makes much easier to figure out what may have caused the emergency of the Detroit Techno and Electro scene. This is the case of Lamont Norwood, also known as , who grew up with all these groove influences. Of course, it was the sounds of in a first moment, and after that the Street Dance culture that guided him mainly with the Electro-Funk classics of the beginning of the eighties. Fascinated, Norwood was caught by a whole movement that started with the Funk culture, but which roots lies miles ahead. Largely influenced by the street sounds of , and that swirled into his mind during the eighties, Lamont decided to stretch to the boundaries and started a deep journey of musical researches. His DJ story begun even before the acquaintance of the turntables at the beginning of the nineties: he started with double tape decks at a parents house with very limited options. But the natural mixing skills and the density of his musical background took him far beyond his dreams: about more than ten years ago, he became a professional DJ, even if his professional highlight was yet to come. Before the so called professional ascension, he played tons of House parties as a Cabaret DJ. To be really integrated on the scene, it was just a question of time. He quickly shifted behind the decks and became part of the most important professionals behind the electro scene from the nineties. His melting pot of electro funk, techno, booty and ghetto tech elements with scratching skills created a very unique ambiance which drove the crowds wherever he wanted to. In 1996, Lamont Norwood integrated the brilliant as their DJ and had the pleasure to experience live shows with them for years. At the same year of 1996, he released his first track, Radar2Bass which, according to his statements, was meant to be a Sinister Techno Bass. It appeared on the EP by , the same label through where he released his first single: , a kind of definition for his sound, a free sound that was made to be included on the open-minded DJs repertories, which were really free to do whatever they wanted. He also released several other productions, remixes and a couple of CDs through records, one of the most important labels of the electro scene. Essentially versatile in the music scene, built a real solid foundation as a world class DJ all these years. His repertories, which are an amazing combination of electro classics with the more contemporaries, should not be missed. He is presently recording for Underground Resistance. -- Written by Alain Patrick, for d-edge.com.br -
