Album Review: Someday You'll Come Running by FM (1989) Alright, let’s talk about Someday You'll Come Running by FM, a rock gem that came out in '89. This album is a mix of Pop Rock, Classic Rock, Arena Rock, and even some Hard Rock vibes—basically, it's got layers. Released under Epic Records across the UK, Spain, and Europe, this one feels like a time capsule from an era when big riffs and bigger choruses ruled the airwaves. First off, I gotta shout out the track "Someday (You'll Come Running)"—both the regular version and its extended cut. Man, this song sticks with you. It’s one of those tunes where the hook grabs you right away, and before you know it, you're humming it while brushing your teeth or something. The energy here is infectious, blending punchy guitars with vocals that just soar. Plus, having two versions gives fans more bang for their buck, which was pretty cool back then. You can tell producer Neil Kernon had fun dialing up the drama on this one—it’s polished but still raw enough to hit hard. Another standout? “Obsession.” Oh man, this track slaps. From the opening riff to that driving rhythm, it’s impossible not to crank the volume. There’s something hypnotic about how they weave together melody and grit, almost like they’re daring you to sit still. If you ever need a soundtrack for staring moodily out of a rainy window, this is your jam. Props to Nigel Green for mixing this beast because every layer pops without feeling overdone. The rest of the album holds its own too—"Alibi" brings the swagger, while "Everytime We Touch" leans into heartfelt territory without getting cheesy. And hey, props to TY1 for cutting the lacquer—it sounds crisp even today. What makes Someday You’ll Come Running special isn’t just the music itself; it’s the vibe. Listening to it feels like stepping back into a world where rock stars were larger than life, and albums weren’t just playlists—they were experiences. Sure, 1989 might’ve been all about acid-wash jeans and questionable hairstyles, but FM managed to create something timeless amidst all that chaos. Honestly, if I close my eyes and listen, I half expect to see someone lighting a cigarette lighter at a stadium show instead of whipping out their phone. Weirdly nostalgic, right? Anyway, give this one a spin if you love classic rock done right—and maybe keep a lighter handy, just in case.
