Album Review: It's Noisy Out In Boise, Idaho, In The Hills Of Old Wyoming by The King's Jesters Man, oh man, this album feels like stepping into a dusty saloon where the whiskey flows as freely as the fiddles play. Released way back in 1949 on Sullivan Records, It’s Noisy Out In Boise, Idaho, In The Hills Of Old Wyoming is one of those hidden gems that makes you wonder how it ever slipped under the radar for so long. This isn’t just folk or country—it’s Western Swing with a heartbeat, full of twangy guitars, rollicking rhythms, and lyrics that make your boots tap faster than your brain can keep up. Let’s talk about the title track first because, well, how could I not? “It’s Noisy Out In Boise, Idaho” hits you right away with its playful energy. The song’s got this infectious groove that sounds like someone took all the chaos of a rowdy frontier town and turned it into music. You can practically hear the clinking glasses and raucous laughter in the background while the band swings through the melody. What sticks with me most is how unapologetically fun it feels. It doesn’t try too hard—it just lets loose and invites you along for the ride. By the time the chorus kicks in, you’re humming along whether you want to or not. Then there’s “In The Hills Of Old Wyoming,” which takes things down a notch but still packs an emotional punch. There’s something haunting about the way the steel guitar weaves through the tune, almost like it’s whispering secrets from another era. The vocals are raw, maybe even a little rough around the edges, but that’s what makes it real. It paints such a vivid picture of wide-open spaces and lonely nights under star-filled skies. Listening to it feels like flipping through an old photo album—you know, the kind where the edges are worn and faded, but every image tells a story you don’t wanna forget. The whole thing has this timeless charm that sneaks up on you when you least expect it. Sure, some tracks might feel dated if you’re used to slick production, but that’s kinda the point. This is music made for people who appreciate authenticity over perfection. And honestly, hearing these songs now feels like finding a treasure chest buried in the backyard of history. So yeah, here’s my hot take: if you’ve never heard of The King’s Jesters before, start with this record. But fair warning—it’ll leave you craving more of their wild, untamed spirit. Honestly, after listening to this album, I half expect to see tumbleweeds rolling down Main Street anytime I step outside. Who knew Wyoming hills and Idaho noise could sound so damn good together?

About The King's Jesters

Comic vocal trio active from the late 1920s to 1962. Formed by a group of high school friends from Rochester, Indiana, George Howard, Fritz Bastow, and John Ravencroft, the trio eventually sang with dance orchesters, toured hotels, and performed live on the radio all over the midwest, first under the name Howard's Melody Syncopaters, later as Howard Trio. Their breakthrough came when Paul Whiteman hired them for his orchestra (1930-1931) and featured them as "The King's Jesters."
