Album Review: Paranoia by Kollektiv Rote Rübe & Ton Steine Scherben (1976) Alright, let’s talk about Paranoia. This 1976 gem from Germany is one of those albums that sneaks up on you. It’s not your typical pop or rock record—it’s more like a patchwork quilt stitched together with experimental vibes, heartfelt ballads, and some folk-rock grit. Released under David Volksmund Produktion, it feels raw, real, and unpolished in the best way possible. You can tell this wasn’t made to chase trends; it was made because they had something to say. The album kicks off with "Eine Tote Zuviel," and wow, does it set the tone. The track starts slow, almost hesitant, but then builds into this haunting crescendo. Gerlind Eger’s vocals are just... wow. She doesn’t just sing; she tells a story. It’s the kind of song that sticks with you long after it ends, like an old memory you can’t shake off. I think what makes it memorable is how personal it feels—like you’re eavesdropping on someone’s private moment of grief and reflection. And yeah, maybe I’m reading too much into it, but isn’t that what good music does? Makes you overthink? Then there’s "Manchmal Wenn Ich So Dasitze," which is basically the opposite vibe. It’s quieter, introspective, almost like a diary entry put to music. Hans-Peter Cloos really shines here—his delivery is so casual yet packed with emotion. It’s the kind of track that makes you want to sit by a window with a cup of coffee (or wine, no judgment) and just zone out. What gets me every time is how relatable it is. We’ve all been there, right? Just sitting, thinking, wondering if life has any grand plan for us. Spoiler alert: it probably doesn’t, but hey, at least we’ve got songs like this to keep us company. Now, let’s not forget the credits crew behind this masterpiece. Monika Neuser nailed the cover art—it’s simple but super striking. And props to Ralph Möbius and Ralph Steitz for keeping the sound tight without losing that rough-around-the-edges charm. Oh, and Ossi Baumeister’s photos? They add this whole other layer to the experience. You can tell everyone involved poured their hearts into this project. What strikes me most about Paranoia is how ahead of its time it feels. Sure, it came out in ’76, but listening to it now, it still sounds fresh. Maybe even fresher than some of the stuff being churned out today. There’s no auto-tune, no overproduced beats—just honest music made by people who clearly cared. So, would I recommend this album? Absolutely. But fair warning: it’s not background noise. This is the kind of record you need to sit with, maybe even wrestle with a little. It’s messy, imperfect, and deeply human—all the things great art should be. And honestly? If aliens ever land and ask me to explain Earth’s music, I might just hand them a copy of Paranoia. Not sure if they’d get it, but hey, at least they’d know we tried.

Super Platte ,habe schon vor Jahren danach in youtube gesucht,denn die meisten Texte sind mir seit meiner jugend nicht mehr aus dem Kopf gegangen.Mal sehen ob ich irgendwann wieder die Lp kaufen kann.Ich vermisse diesen Wiederstand heutzutage sehr. Leider hab ich das Lied der Horrormäuse nicht gefunden.

Hallo P., danke für deine nette Nachricht. Ich kann mich leider nicht an dich erinnern. Ich hab mehr in München gelebt zu der Zeit. Auch hab ich keine Kontaktdaten von den Mitgliedern. Weiss nur dass A.H. in München lebt. L.B. in Zürich spielt und T.H. irgendwo im Ruhrpot. Tut mir leid, ich möchte nicht über youtube oder facebook Kontaktdaten austauschen. du ich erinnere mich weil ich dabei war...M und meine mutter waren ja befreundet, und ich war eben oft dann mit ihrer tochter B. zusammen habe aber leider den A.H. aus den augen verloren ebenso wie B. und M., den L. habe ich vor 20 jahren mal in tübingen nach einer aufführung gesehen.
Dachte du hättest das Foto gemacht. Ist ja schon eine weile her...ich war ca 11J.
Kannst du dich an mich erinnern, ?? mein Vorname fängt mit P an. Kann ich dich irgendwo mal erreichechen ?

habe mich sehr gefreut, dass lied mal wieder zu hören....weil ich zur damaligen zeit mit den rüben zu tun hatte, die wiederum waren mit den scherben zusammen...! danke das du das mal hier rein gestellt hast.. gruß p
