Litost by Mekigah: A Sonic Dive into Chaos and Catharsis If you’re looking for an album that feels like getting lost in a storm of broken glass, molten steel, and whispered nightmares, Litost by Mekigah is your ticket. Released in 2014 on Aesthetic Death Records, this UK-born beast straddles genres like Doom Metal, Avantgarde, Noise, and Experimental with the grace of a drunk elephant—but trust me, it works. Every track here feels like Vis Ortis (the mastermind behind this madness) emptied their soul onto tape, then set it on fire just to see what would happen. And oh boy, does it burn. The whole thing kicks off with “Circuitous Revenge,” which hits you like a freight train made of gravel and regret. The guitars are sludgy enough to drown in, while the drums sound like they were recorded inside a collapsing cathedral. But what sticks? The vocals. They’re raw, unhinged—like someone screaming at shadows only they can see. It’s not pretty, but damn if it doesn’t grab you by the throat and refuse to let go. You’ll remember this one because it’s relentless; every note feels like it was dragged out of the underworld kicking and screaming. Then there’s “By Force Of Breath,” where things take a turn for the haunting. This track lurches forward with a suffocating heaviness, punctuated by eerie synth lines that creep up on you when you least expect it. There’s something about the way the piano cuts through the noise—it’s fragile, almost tender, but surrounded by chaos. It’s like finding a flower growing out of cracked concrete. By the time those guttural roars kick back in, you’re already hooked, wondering how something so ugly can feel so beautiful. What makes Litost stand out isn’t just its sound—it’s the sheer audacity of it all. Every element, from the abrasive textures to the labyrinthine song structures, feels intentional yet chaotic, as though Ortis is daring you to keep up. Even the artwork, handled by Ortis themselves, looks like someone smeared oil paint across a nightmare and called it art. Kudos to Adamor Ziltich for the layout and Adrian Akkerman for mastering, too—they managed to wrangle this sonic beast into something coherent without losing its wild edge. Now, here’s the kicker: after listening to Litost, I couldn’t help but think about how much we sanitize music these days. Everything has to be polished, perfect, Instagrammable. But albums like this remind us that sometimes, beauty lives in the cracks, the noise, the imperfections. Or maybe I’m just overthinking it because my ears are still ringing. Either way, give this album a spin if you’ve got the guts—and headphones sturdy enough to survive it.

Interesting fact about Album

Here’s something cool: the album *Litost* by Mekigah is basically a one-person masterpiece. Released in 2014, it’s a wild mix of Doom Metal, Avantgarde, Noise, and Experimental sounds—all crafted by Vis Ortis. This guy didn’t just play the guitar or sing; he handled everything from drums to synths, even the eerie noises. The album feels like stepping into someone’s raw, chaotic mind. And fun detail? The artwork and layout were done by two different people, adding another layer of creativity to this UK-born project. Tracks like "By Force Of Breath" and "An Overbearing Insanity" hit hard, but knowing one person built this whole sonic world makes it even more impressive.
