Karneval EP by HT: A Raw Punk Rock Gem from Slovakia Alright, let’s talk about Karneval EP by HT. Released back in 2012 under Hirax Records, this little slice of Slovakian punk rock chaos feels like a forgotten banger waiting to be rediscovered. It’s not perfect, but that’s kinda the point—it’s rough around the edges, unapologetically raw, and full of energy. If you’re into punk with a dash of experimentation, this one might just hit the spot. The album kicks off with "Delírium," and holy crap, does it set the tone. This track grabs you by the collar and doesn’t let go. The guitar riffs are jagged, the vocals have that snarling urgency, and there’s this weird sense of controlled chaos that makes it memorable. What sticks with me is how it builds up—like it’s teasing you—and then explodes into this noisy, frenetic mess. You can almost picture some sweaty underground club in Bratislava where everyone’s losing their minds to this tune. It’s messy, sure, but isn’t that what punk’s all about? Then there’s “Šťastíčko (Bledomodrá verzia),” which hits different. Where “Delírium” is all aggression, this one leans more into mood and atmosphere. The melody has this dreamy, almost melancholic vibe, but it’s still got bite. I think it’s the way the vocals waver between anger and vulnerability—it’s like they’re screaming at the world but also whispering to themselves. Plus, the whole Bledomodrá (pale blue) thing adds this artsy layer that makes you wonder if they were high when they wrote it. Either way, it’s stuck in my head for days after listening. Now, let’s not ignore the live tracks sprinkled throughout the EP. Stuff like “Hotentoten - reggae (Live)” shows off HT’s knack for turning up the intensity on stage. Sure, it’s sloppy compared to studio versions, but that’s part of its charm. Punk isn’t supposed to be polished, right? And hey, who doesn’t love a good live recording that captures the vibe of a packed venue? But here’s the kicker—the CD-ROM videos. Yeah, remember those? In 2012, including video content felt kinda futuristic, even if now it feels hilariously outdated. Watching “Spleenutia” or “Šťastíčko” as grainy visuals while the music blasts through your speakers gives the whole experience this DIY, early-internet aesthetic. Honestly, it’s charming as hell. Looking back, Karneval EP isn’t gonna top anyone’s list of greatest albums ever, but damn if it doesn’t feel real. HT wasn’t trying to reinvent punk—they were just doing their thing, loud and proud. And sometimes, that’s exactly what you need. So if you stumble across this record, give it a spin. Who knows? Maybe it’ll remind you why punk mattered in the first place. Oh, and random thought: Whoever decided to mix punk with reggae deserves either an award or a stern talking-to. Probably both.

Jasne, kapela čo zradila sama seba... Takuto pičovinu ani omylom nenazvem najlepšou na SR a hlavne taku kapelu čo zradí svoje meno.
