Necrosic - Putrid Decimation

Review by Simon Gilkes

Putrid Decimation by Necrosic: A Nasty, Gnarly Death Metal Assault You Won’t Forget Necrosic’s Putrid Decimation isn’t just an album—it’s a goddamn evisceration of your eardrums. Released in 2016 under Nuclear War Now! Productions, this US-based death metal beast slams you with raw aggression and zero apologies. If you’re into riffs that feel like rusty chainsaws slicing through bone, then buckle up, because this one’s gonna leave scars. Let’s talk about the lineup real quick—Erika Osterhout on bass laying down some filthy grooves, Charlie Koryn smashing drums like he’s trying to destroy his kit, Christian La Rocca shredding guitar solos so nasty they’ll make your teeth rot, and Sean McGrath growling vocals straight from the depths of hell itself. Oh, and props to Rafal Kruszyk for the disgustingly perfect cover art that screams “DO NOT OPEN THIS.” Now let’s get into the meat (or should I say guts?) of it. Tracks like Squirming In Your Guts hit hard right outta the gate. The opening riff grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go until the last second. It’s dirty, relentless, and chaotic as fuck—like being chased through a sewer by something with too many teeth. And those vocals? Holy shit. McGrath sounds like he gargled broken glass before stepping up to the mic. This track sticks with me because it’s pure carnage; no frills, no filler, just unrelenting brutality. Then there’s Spawn Of Radiation. Man, this one feels like radioactive waste dumped directly into your brain. The drumming is absolutely savage—Charlie Koryn goes off like a machine gun on steroids. But what really gets me is how the song builds tension before exploding into this insane whirlwind of blast beats and tremolo picking. By the time it ends, you’re left gasping for air like you just survived a nuclear apocalypse. Fucking wild. And yeah, sure, tracks like My Casket Drains and Vomit Transmutation keep the chaos rolling, but honestly, after hearing the first two monsters, my ears were already bleeding enough to appreciate the rest without needing repeat listens. Here’s the thing though—what makes Putrid Decision stand out isn’t just its brutality. It’s the fact that these guys don’t give a damn about trends or making their music “accessible.” They’re here to rip shit apart, plain and simple. Listening to this album feels like sticking your head inside a running garbage disposal. Painful? Yeah. Rewarding? Hell yeah. But here’s the kicker—I couldn’t help thinking while listening to this…if aliens ever invade Earth, we should blast Putrid Decimation at them. Either they’ll surrender immediately or explode from sheer overload. Either way, problem solved. So if you want music that punches you in the face and laughs while doing it, grab a copy of Putrid Decimation. Just don’t blame me when your neighbors start complaining—or worse, calling animal control because they think someone’s torturing pigs next door.
