Pomplamoose - Season Two

Pomplamoose’s Season Two: A Wild Ride Through Pop and Rock Chaos Alright, buckle up. Pomplamoose’s Season Two isn’t your grandma’s album—unless she’s into genre-bending madness with a side of quirky humor. Released back in 2014 (yeah, I know, ancient history), this self-released gem from the US duo smashes together rock and pop like it’s nobody’s business. It’s messy, bold, and unapologetically fun. You wanna hear something that sticks? Let me break it down. First off, “Pharrell Mashup.” Holy crap, this one slaps harder than expected. If you thought Pharrell was all sunshine and happy feet, Jack Conte and Nataly Dawn twist his vibe into some mutant version of joyride chaos. The vocals bounce around like they can’t decide if they’re celebrating or losing their minds—but honestly, who cares? It works. This track grabs you by the ears and doesn’t let go until you’re humming nonsense lyrics while brushing your teeth later. Then there’s “The Internet Is Awesome,” which is basically satire gold wrapped in catchy hooks. Like, yeah, we all spend half our lives glued to screens, but leave it to Pomplamoose to turn existential dread into an anthem. The beat’s got this retro kick that makes you wanna dance even as the lyrics remind you how much time you wasted scrolling TikTok last night. Love-hate relationship with tech never sounded so good. Now, don’t get me wrong—this ain’t perfect. Some tracks feel like they tried too hard (cough “Lorde 2Pac Beck Mashup” cough), and not every song lands perfectly. But when it does work, it REALLY works. These two clearly had zero chill about throwing ideas at the wall just to see what stuck. And honestly? That chaotic energy is kinda refreshing. So here’s the kicker: listening to Season Two feels like hanging out with friends who are way cooler than you but still invite you along for the ride. Sure, they might embarrass you occasionally, but damn if you won’t have stories to tell afterward. In a world full of polished, overproduced garbage, Pomplamoose reminds us that music can be weird, raw, and totally unforgettable. Oh, and random thought—I bet Jack and Nataly would crush karaoke night. Just saying.

Notes

  • Season two includes both, with the duo’s irrepressible joi de vivre rendering their cartwheeling guitars and effervescent pianos in the brightest rainbow hues. They open with the classic ode to pop video “Video Killed the Radio Star.” Two originals—“Come Out to Play” (a bubbly electro-pop tune) and “Get That Body Back” (a panting, aerobic-boosting number that owes its soul to techno)—are killer.
  • Issued in a digipak.

Interesting fact about Album

Here's a fun fact: Pomplamoose's *Season Two* album is like a musical collage. Released in 2014, it blends rock and pop with clever mashups. One standout track mixes Lorde, 2Pac, and Beck—three totally different artists from different worlds. The album was self-released, showing their indie spirit. Jack Conte and Nataly Dawn not only sang but also arranged everything themselves. It’s quirky, creative, and full of surprises, just like the duo itself.

While this is a fine cover of Irving Berlin's infamous Popular tune, I like the video too. The only things it was missing was Police Detectives, some jotting down notes in notepads, some snapping photos, in trenchcoats and Fedora hats, maybe the Chief Detective at the scene is late middle-aged, fat, chomping a cigar; and a dead body. Did she really slip? Or was she murdered?

We see her slip, but the local yokel Authorities believe she was a murder victim, and officially chase that angle, chasing a "murder" that they will never catch, no matter how much their pay!

**Thumb Ups video** hehehe

Back when she was unique, cute and one of a kind. Then she changed and tried to hit big time..... cookie cutter YouTube band now.
