We Are In The Time Of Evil Clocks by The Rebel Wheel – A Wild Ride Through Prog Rock Wonderland If you’re into music that doesn’t just sit there but instead jumps off the shelf and smacks you upside the head, We Are In The Time Of Evil Clocks is your jam. Released in 2010 on 10T Records, this album feels like a fever dream where prog rock meets pop sensibilities, all stitched together with enough imagination to make your brain hurt—in a good way. It’s got layers upon layers of soundscapes, killer musicianship, and an energy that screams “we didn’t phone this one in.” Let’s talk about two tracks that stuck with me: “Scales of the Ebony Fish” and “The Discovery of Witchcraft Pt. 3: Madnight.” First up, “Scales of the Ebony Fish.” Man, this track hits hard right outta the gate. The guitar work from David Campbell? Unreal. He’s not just shredding for the sake of showing off—he’s telling a story here, every note dripping with emotion. And when Guy Leblanc’s synth kicks in during Part 4 (or maybe it was Part 5—I lost count), it’s like stepping into some neon-lit underwater world where time doesn’t exist. The basslines are thick as molasses, thanks to Claude Prince and Guy Dagenais, who sneak in these little riffs that feel both playful and sinister at the same time. By the end, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to dance or cry—or do both simultaneously. Then there’s “Madnight,” which honestly might be my favorite thing about this whole record. There’s something haunting yet completely addictive about how the drums drive the chaos forward while Rick Barkhouse lays down piano lines so delicate they almost feel out of place—but trust me, they’re not. This song builds tension like nobody’s business, layering saxophone wails courtesy of Angie MacIvor over swirling synths until you’re practically holding your breath waiting for what comes next. When it finally explodes into its climactic section, it’s messy, raw, and absolutely glorious—like watching fireworks burst across a stormy sky. What makes this album stand out isn’t just the technical mastery—it’s the heart behind it. You can tell everyone involved poured their souls into this project. From Roger Woods’ trippy artwork to Karinne Legault’s moody photography, everything clicks into place perfectly. Even Aaron Clark’s percussion feels alive, like he’s channeling some primal rhythm straight from the earth itself. But here’s the kicker—the more I listened, the less I cared about genre labels or whether certain parts were technically “perfect.” What mattered was how it made me feel: electrified, curious, and kinda overwhelmed in the best possible way. Like yeah, life is chaotic, but damn, isn’t it beautiful? And hey, random thought: If evil clocks actually existed, I’d totally buy one—as long as it came bundled with this album.

Interesting fact about Album

Here’s an interesting fact: The album *We Are In The Time Of Evil Clocks* by The Rebel Wheel is a mind-bending blend of progressive rock and storytelling. Released in 2010 under the US label 10T Records, it features intricate tracks like "The Discovery of Witchcraft" split into multiple parts, each with its own unique vibe. What makes it even cooler? The band brought in talented guest musicians, such as Guy Dagenais on fretless bass and synth wizard Guy Leblanc, to add layers of depth. And fun detail—David Campbell, who produced the album, also played guitar, keyboards, vocals, and bass! It’s like a musical jigsaw puzzle where every piece fits perfectly.
