Robie - Moon Pledge

Moon Pledge by Robie: A Journey Through Heartache and Hope Let’s get one thing straight—Robie’s Moon Pledge isn’t just another rock-pop album from 2013. It’s the kind of record that sneaks up on you, wraps itself around your mood, and doesn’t let go for days. Hailing from Norway (yeah, those Norwegians know how to craft some serious vibes), this RVI Records release is like a patchwork quilt made out of raw emotions, catchy hooks, and lyrics that hit too close to home. The tracklist? Solid all the way through. But if I had to pick two songs that stuck with me like gum under a shoe, it’d be “Where Dreams Are Made” and “Lost In Memories.” “Where Dreams Are Made” kicks things off with this dreamy yet gritty vibe—it’s the kind of song you play when you’re driving late at night with no destination in mind. The guitar riffs feel alive, almost breathing, while Robie’s voice carries this mix of hope and ache. You can tell he means every word he sings. There’s something about the chorus that feels like standing on the edge of a cliff, staring into the unknown but feeling strangely okay about it. Like yeah, life might suck right now, but hey, there’s beauty in the mess too. Then there’s “Lost In Memories,” which punches you right in the gut without even trying. This one slows things down, letting the weight of nostalgia sink in deep. The piano melody feels fragile, like it could break any second, and Robie’s vocals are so raw they sound like they were recorded in the middle of an emotional breakdown. And honestly? That’s what makes it unforgettable. It’s not perfect—it’s human. Listening to it feels like flipping through an old photo album filled with faces you miss more than words can say. Other tracks like “Frankie Town” bring back that upbeat energy, while “Bad Memories” reminds you why crying in the shower exists. Even the ones that don’t immediately grab you grow on you after a few listens, kinda like mold—but in a good way? Okay, maybe not mold, but you get the idea. What really stands out about Moon Pledge is how unapologetically honest it feels. Robie doesn’t try to sugarcoat anything here; instead, he lays it all bare, giving us twelve slices of his soul served up on a platter. Whether he’s singing about love lost, dreams fading, or just trying to figure out life, it resonates because it’s real. No gimmicks, no flashy overproduction—just music that speaks to anyone who’s ever felt a little lost. And here’s the kicker: listening to this album feels like finding an old letter you wrote to yourself years ago. It’s messy, heartfelt, and sometimes painful, but damn if it doesn’t make you feel alive. Funny enough, as much as these songs talk about heartbreak and loneliness, they also leave you with this weird sense of comfort. Like yeah, we’re all screwed up, but at least we’re screwed up together. So yeah, give Moon Pledge a spin. Just don’t blame me if you find yourself stuck in a spiral of reflection and random bursts of humming “Where Dreams Are Made” at 3 AM.
