The Rockmobile by Rockfolket – A Raw, Unapologetic Blast from 1980 Alright, let’s get one thing straight: The Rockmobile isn’t some polished, overproduced rock album trying to kiss your feet. Nope. This is pure grit, raw energy, and Swedish swagger cranked up to eleven. Released in 1980 on Granite Records, this sucker hits like a sledgehammer to the face—and you’ll love every second of it. First off, the title track “The Rockmobile” slams into your ears like a runaway freight train. It’s not fancy—it doesn’t need to be. The riffs are dirty, the drums punch hard, and the vocals? Man, they sound like they were recorded in a garage with a hangover. But that’s what makes it unforgettable. You can practically smell the sweat and cigarette smoke while listening. This ain’t for the faint-hearted; it’s for people who wanna feel alive. Every time I hear those opening chords, I’m ready to grab my leather jacket and start a riot. Then there’s “Discomonster,” which sounds exactly how you’d expect based on the name—wild, chaotic, and kinda unhinged. If disco and rock had a bastard child raised by wolves, this would be it. The bassline grooves harder than most bands could ever dream of, and just when you think it’s gonna settle into something predictable, BAM! They throw in these insane guitar solos that make zero sense but somehow work perfectly. It’s messy as hell, but goddamn if it doesn’t stick in your head for days. Rockfolket didn’t care about trends or fitting into any box. They played loud, fast, and pissed-off, and that’s why The Rockmobile still holds up today. Sure, the production’s rough around the edges, and yeah, maybe some notes wobble where they shouldn’t—but honestly? That’s what makes it so damn real. Here’s the kicker though: listening to this album feels like finding an old mixtape in the backseat of a stolen car. You don’t know who made it, why it exists, or even if it’s supposed to be good—but once you press play, you realize it doesn’t matter. Sometimes music doesn’t have to change the world. Sometimes it just has to remind you that being reckless is fun as hell. So crank this baby up, let loose, and thank Sweden for giving us Rockfolket.

About Rockfolket

Swedish humoristic rock band. The band was the biggest in the 1970s when they conquered the country's people's amusement parks and pub scenes with their mix of humor, spex and rock 'n' roll. "Hey Baberiba" was the song that made them popular with the Swedish people. During a period the group was supplemented by Laila Westersund and Lena-Maria Gårdenäs-Lawton as guest artists. From the years 1978 onwards, the group consisted of Leif "Burken" Björklund, Rock-Ragge, Åke Larsén (who was the band's engine), Per-Arne Eklund and the new guitarist from Blåblus, Micke Areklew. In the 1980s the band ceased and the front character Leif "Burken" Björklund invested in a solo career. In recent years, the Rock people resurrected and made nostalgic recordings together with Rock-Ragge and Rock-Olga, both now deceased. Even Leif "Burken" Björklund is now deceased. Per-Arne Eklund passed away on February 20, 2015 in Stockholm. New members included Boris "Rock-Boris" Lindqvist (died 2017), Lasse Söderström and Kåre Ljunggren. In 2012, Bo Persson Git, vocals, Kalle Åhmark, piano, accordion, vocals and Jan Bråthe, bass, trombone, vocals were added.
