Album Review: Steve Drive by RondoNumbaNine Alright, let’s talk about Steve Drive by RondoNumbaNine. Released back in 2013, this project is a raw slice of Chicago’s drill scene, dripping with gritty energy and that unmistakable Midwest swagger. With production credits from heavy hitters like DJ Bandz and DJ Victoriouz, it’s no surprise the beats slap hard enough to shake your speakers loose. First off, I gotta shout out “Wack A Opp.” This track? It’s cold-blooded. The beat hits like a freight train, and Rondo’s flow feels like he’s spitting straight fire. What sticks with me most is how unapologetic it is—you can tell this guy ain’t here for games. The lyrics are sharp, the delivery even sharper, and when you throw on those headphones, it just locks you in. You feel like you’re riding through the Chi with him, ready to take over the block. Another standout is “We the Truth” (feat. Racks Rude). There’s something about the chemistry between these two—it’s smooth but still packs a punch. The hook sticks in your head for days, and Racks Rude adds that extra layer of heat. It’s one of those tracks where every bar feels intentional, like they’re telling their story without holding anything back. When Rondo says, “We the truth,” you believe him because the vibe backs it up. What makes Steve Drive special isn’t just the music; it’s the attitude. This album doesn’t try to be polished or perfect—it’s real, raw, and relentless. Listening to it feels like stepping into another world, one where loyalty runs deep and grindin’ ain’t optional. Tracks like “The Block” and “My Team Winning” keep the momentum going, reminding you why RondoNumbaNine was—and still is—a force to be reckoned with. But here’s the thing: as much as this album bangs, it also leaves you thinking. Like, what happened to all the artists who were reppin’ so hard back then? Some blew up, some faded out, but listening to Steve Drive feels like catching lightning in a bottle. It’s a time capsule of a moment when Chicago drill was taking over the game, and RondoNumbaNine was right there in the mix. So yeah, if you haven’t heard Steve Drive, go cop it—or at least stream it. Just don’t blame me if you end up bumping it nonstop. And hey, maybe while you're at it, wonder why more people aren't talking about Rondo today. Dude had bars for days.
