System Initializing by Seraphim System: A Cybernetic Assault on Your Ears Alright, buckle up. System Initializing by Seraphim System isn’t just an album—it’s a full-blown digital exorcism. Released in 2017 under Japan’s Digital World Audio label, this industrial-electro beast slaps harder than most things you’ll hear today. If dystopian soundscapes and glitchy beats are your jam, then congrats, you’ve found your new religion. The genre here is electronic, but calling it "electro" feels like underselling it. This is more like electro on steroids, with industrial vibes so raw they could strip paint off walls. Tracks like “Breaking Me” and “Riot in Progress” stick out—not because they’re perfect, but because they feel alive. Like, dangerously alive. Take “Breaking Me,” for instance. It opens with this cold, mechanical pulse that sneaks up on you before exploding into chaos. The beat hits like a sledgehammer wrapped in barbed wire, while the vocals snarl and spit venom right in your face. You don’t just listen to this track—you survive it. Every time I hear it, I imagine myself running through some neon-lit cyberpunk city, dodging drones and trying not to get vaporized. It’s exhilarating as hell. Then there’s “Riot in Progress.” Holy crap, this one feels like being caught in the middle of an actual uprising. The bassline growls like a pissed-off tiger, and the samples sound like broken glass crunching under combat boots. There’s no escape from the intensity—it grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go until the last distorted note fades away. I can’t tell if it’s angry or triumphant, but maybe that’s the point. Either way, it’s unforgettable. Now, let’s talk about the rest of the album real quick. With tracks like “Don’t Call It Techno” (lol, fair enough) and “Civic Duty: Kill the Rich” (okay, bold move), Seraphim System clearly has zero chill when it comes to making statements. They throw everything at you—grinding synths, relentless percussion, eerie atmospheres—and somehow make it work. Even weirder cuts like “Radio Sex” and “Manufactured Terror” keep things unpredictable. Nothing feels lazy or phoned-in; every song punches its weight. But honestly? What sticks with me most isn’t just the music itself—it’s how System Initializing makes me feel. Listening to it is like stepping into a world where humanity is losing its grip on reality, and machines are laughing at us behind our backs. It’s chaotic, uncomfortable, and kinda beautiful all at once. And yeah, sure, some tracks might blur together after a while, but isn’t that what overload is supposed to feel like? Here’s the kicker though: despite all the aggression and noise, there’s something oddly… hopeful about this record. Maybe it’s the way the melodies peek through the madness, or how even the darkest moments still groove hard enough to dance to. Or maybe I’m just losing my mind. Who knows? Final thought: If Skynet ever drops its own mixtape, it’ll probably sound a lot like System Initializing. And honestly? I’d hit play again.
