Communications by Surgeon: A Techno Odyssey That’ll Mess With Your Head (In a Good Way) Alright, buckle up. We’re diving into Communications, the 2015 techno beast from UK-based producer Surgeon (real name: Anthony Child—yes, he’s literally “A Child” in the credits). Released under Downwards and SRX, this album is like that one friend who shows up uninvited but ends up being the life of the party. It’s raw, relentless, and weirdly unforgettable. First off, let’s talk about "Reptile Mess." This track slithers into your brain and refuses to leave. Imagine if reptiles had a secret underground rave scene—this would be their anthem. The bassline groans like it’s got a bad back, while the beats snap with surgical precision. You can practically hear the cold-blooded chaos unfolding. I remember this one because it feels like Surgeon took all his frustrations about British weather and channeled them into nine minutes of pure industrial fury. Then there’s "Cable," which hits you like an unexpected electric shock. The track starts innocently enough, but before you know it, you’re tangled up in layers of buzzing synths and twitchy percussion. It’s as if someone plugged a live wire straight into your headphones. What makes "Cable" stick out for me? Well, halfway through, there’s this moment where everything drops out except for this eerie high-pitched tone—it’s like the music version of when your Wi-Fi goes down mid-download. Frustrating yet oddly satisfying. The rest of the album keeps the vibe going strong. Tracks like "Optic" and "Particle" feel like they were designed specifically to confuse both your ears and your existential thoughts. Meanwhile, "Wire" wraps things up with a mechanical hum that fades into silence, leaving you wondering what just happened. Did I mention there are two tracks called "Syllable"? Yeah, even Surgeon couldn’t resist doubling down on that wordplay. Mastering duties went to Christoph, who clearly knows how to make techno sound crisp without losing its gritty edge. And props to CGB for cutting those lacquers—they must’ve had some serious steady hands to handle these sonic rollercoasters. So, here’s the thing: Communications isn’t for everyone. If you’re looking for something chill to play at your next garden party, maybe skip this one. But if you want an album that feels like a late-night journey through neon-lit tunnels and abandoned warehouses, Surgeon’s got your back. Final thought? Listening to this album made me realize something profound: techno might not solve your problems, but it sure does make them feel cooler. Like, yeah, my rent’s overdue, but at least I’ve got "Reptile Mess" blasting in the background.

Interesting fact about Album

Here’s a cool fact: The album *Communications* by Surgeon is a hidden gem in the electronic music scene. Released in 2015 under UK labels Downwards and SRX, it blends raw techno with intricate sound design. What’s fascinating is that every track—like "Reptile Mess" and "Optic"—was crafted by someone credited simply as "A Child." From writing to production, this mysterious figure brought a fresh, almost otherworldly vibe to the project. The mastering by Christoph added the final polish, making it a standout record for techno fans. It’s like the album was built from both chaos and precision, a true audio puzzle.
