Trajic Society: A Hard House Gem That Still Slaps (1997) Alright, let’s talk about Trajic Society, the 1997 album by Trajic. If you’re into electronic music with a raw edge, this one hits different. It’s not perfect—nothing from the underground ever is—but it’s got grit, soul, and enough energy to make your speakers beg for mercy. Released under Underground Construction in the US, this Hard House banger was brought to life by DJ Attack as executive producer, while Trajic handled production, mixing, and arrangement like some kind of mad scientist in the lab. Now, I gotta shout out two tracks that stuck with me: "Booty Face" and "Trajic Society." First up, “Booty Face.” Oh man, this track is pure chaos in the best way possible. The beat slams so hard it feels like it could knock over a wall. There’s something hypnotic about how the bassline just growls at you, daring you to ignore it. And those vocal snippets? They’re cheeky, repetitive, and kinda rude—but they work. You can’t help but move when this thing drops. Plus, the instrumental version gives you all the nasty bass without distractions if vocals ain’t your vibe. Then there’s the title track, “Trajic Society.” This one’s darker, moodier, almost like it’s telling a story through sound alone. The kicks hit like sledgehammers, and the synths swirl around like smoke in a dimly lit club. Listening to it feels like stepping into another world—one where everyone’s lost in the groove and doesn’t care about anything else. For me, this track captures what makes Hard House special: it’s not just music; it’s an experience. What gets me about Trajic Society is how unapologetically real it feels. Back in ‘97, no one was trying to polish this stuff for radio play—it was made for sweaty basements and late-night raves. Even now, decades later, it still holds up because it wasn’t chasing trends. It was the trend. Here’s the kicker though: listening to this album reminds me how much we’ve lost in today’s hyper-produced EDM scene. Tracks like these didn’t need flashy drops or celebrity features—they had heart. Or maybe I’m just nostalgic for a time I wasn’t even part of. Either way, Trajic Society isn’t just an album; it’s a vibe. So go ahead, crank it up, and let it slap you upside the head. Trust me, you won’t regret it. Oh, and hey—if anyone knows where I can find a physical copy of this bad boy, hit me up. My turntable misses gems like this.

About Trajic

Chicago-based pioneer of 1990s hard house. He's considered a pioneer and legend of the 90's Hard House movement. His long list of records, remixes and international appearances credits him as one of the most popular and accomplished DJ/Producers of his time. In 1985, Carlos Kool Kutt Gomez began his musical journey no different than most bedroom DJs hoping to someday leave a mark in the industry. With cheap turntables and a Radio Shack (Realistic) mixer, he began to blend beats, scratches, and later incorporated sampling and editing techniques. In 1989, a friend persuaded Carlos to participate in a DJ battle which he won... giving him his first club residency. In the early 90's his career was on pause and couldn't gain momentum. Unable to play the dance music politics, he switched genres and teamed up with Chicago Rap group O.C.U. (Organized Crime Unit) Due to the group's gangster style hip hop genre, the members changed his stage name from Kool Kutt to DJ Tragic. While working with O.C.U. he met his mentor and super producer Peter Black. Soon after, Carlos assisted Peter on several albums including O.C.U's Stronger Than The Mafia on K Tel Records, and Krashman's album Black Circle on ISLAND Records. Soon after, Carlos veered away from the hip hop scene and continued his interest in dance music. But first, he revised his stage name by replacing the G with a J and DJ TRAJIC was born. In late 1993, he met Underground Construction (UC) president Andy Adams and in 1994 UC agreed to release both Soul Patrol and Orgy Trax simultaneously... unfortunately no producer credit was given for Orgy Tracks due to lessons since learned in the industry. Soon after the release of Soul Patrol, TRAJIC gave birth to his mega hit Show Me Your Face. It was then that his International status began. UC established licensing agreements with record labels in Brazil, Mexico and Europe. This gained TRAJIC's momentum to soon be UCs first touring Dj/Producer. With follow up releases Latinos In The House, L.A.W's Remember The Times, Anastasia's All Men R Dogs, Sex Krazed Superstars Feeling Horny and Pants R Saggin, TRAJIC continued to release back to back records just to keep up with demand, while other labels waited in line with attempts to solicit a Chronic Remix. TRAJIC went on to produce well over 100+ records and remixes for major label artists. His influence is reflected with many top rated DJ/Producers of today and his tracks can always be heard through licensed mix compilations and social media "tribute mixes" by DJ fans worldwide. In 2006, TRAJIC launched his own label in partnership with various digital download distributors. Nemek Music Group (Nemek) has since re-released much of TRAJIC's catalog plus releases from many other talented producers. Today, DJ TRAJIC continues to work behind the scenes and mentors many young up and coming artists and producers. Selected remixes from his discography are also scheduled.
