Various - Demons 2 Original Soundtrack

Review by Kristy Philbrook

Alright, let’s dive into this wild ride that is Demons 2 Original Soundtrack. Released in '87 (yeah, the same year Bon Jovi was busy livin’ on a prayer), this Japanese gem is like a chaotic mixtape your cool older sibling made for you. It’s got everything—Stage & Screen vibes, Electronic bleeps and bloops, Rock grit, and even some New Wave swagger. Indie Rock? Check. Alternative Rock? Double check. This thing’s basically an all-you-can-eat buffet of sounds. First off, gotta shout out “Kundalini Express.” Man, this track slaps. It’s one of those songs where you’re not sure if it’s trying to scare you or make you dance—and honestly, that’s what makes it so good. The beat hits hard enough to get stuck in your head but weird enough to feel like it’s from another dimension. Like, imagine being chased by a demon through a neon-lit arcade. That’s “Kundalini Express” in a nutshell. You can’t help but bob your head while wondering if something sinister’s lurking around the corner. Then there’s “Sally’s Garage,” which feels like the polar opposite. This one’s more chill, kinda dreamy even. If “Kundalini Express” is the adrenaline rush, “Sally’s Garage” is the come-down cigarette after. There’s something super nostalgic about it—it reminds me of lazy summer nights when MTV still played music videos and life felt simpler. The guitar riffs are smooth as butter, and the vocals have this laid-back vibe that just lets you breathe for a sec. Honestly, I’d put this on repeat during late-night drives just to vibe. The rest of the album keeps things interesting too. Tracks like “Demonica” and “De Profundis” bring the spooky factor, perfect for Halloween playlists or whenever you wanna freak out your roommates. Meanwhile, tunes like “Blue Heart” and “Rain” lean into that emotional side, hitting you right in the feels without being overly sappy. And hey, who doesn’t love a little drama now and then? What really stands out about Demons 2 is how unapologetically experimental it feels. It’s messy at times, sure, but isn’t that what makes it fun? You can tell everyone involved just went for it, no holds barred. Plus, coming from Japan via labels like Apollon International and Alty gives it this unique edge—you won’t find anything else quite like it. So yeah, wrapping this up… Listening to Demons 2 feels like flipping channels on an old-school TV set. One minute you’re watching a horror flick, the next it’s a rock concert, and suddenly you’re staring at some artsy black-and-white drama. Weird analogy? Maybe. But hey, that’s the whole charm of this soundtrack—it keeps you guessing. And honestly, if aliens ever land and ask us to explain human creativity, I’m handing them this album first.

I've loved this movie/soundtrack since childhood - thanks a bunch for the upload!

PS: YouTube is messing with your like counts, unless it's a minor bug. They reverted the 107th 'like' to 106. I asked friends to 'like' at different times and they too saw it go back down to 106 after refresh. See, there's this thing about the number 17 in my life and I think some pussies are silently watching me for some odd reason. If only they knew how cucky and futile that is (in terms of stopping anything). xD

It's OK. A lot of us - big and small - are experiencing similar things. Aaaand some not only have evidence, but an inclination towards exposing hypocrisy when it matters.

Cheers & respect

All the music in this clip is from my score for Demons 2. Forget the Karate Kid! Nor is it from Phenomena. Glad you all like it though. Simon Boswell

For the Soundtrack CD I also called myself "The Producers' and "Caduta Massi'. Hope that clears it all up. Best, Simon B.
