Album Review: United Diktatürs of Europe by Anarchist Republic Of Bzzz If you’re into music that feels like it’s been stitched together from the fabric of different universes, then United Diktatürs of Europe is your jam. Released in 2016 by the French experimentalists Anarchist Republic Of Bzzz, this album is a wild ride through rock, jazz, and hip-hop, with dashes of avant-garde jazz and alternative rock sprinkled on top for good measure. It’s not just an album—it’s a statement, a vibe, and honestly, kind of a puzzle. Let’s talk about two tracks that stuck with me because they’re just so dang memorable. First up, “Tropic Of Interzone (feat. Archie Shepp).” This one hits hard right outta the gate. You’ve got Archie Shepp laying down some soulful sax lines that feel like they’re floating in from another dimension, while the rhythm section grooves like it doesn’t care what genre it belongs to. The mix of traditional instruments like the ney and kanun with turntables scratches? Genius. It’s chaotic but somehow smooth at the same time—like sipping espresso while riding a rollercoaster. Then there’s “Uzis On Perimeter.” Whoa. Just… whoa. This track is dark, brooding, and kinda unsettling in the best way possible. The bassline alone could haunt your dreams (in a good way), and when Juice Aleem starts spitting bars, you can’t help but sit up straighter. There’s something hypnotic about how the layers build up—the electric guitar squeals, the percussion pops, and the whole thing feels like it’s teetering on the edge of collapse. But it never does. That tension keeps you hooked till the very last second. What makes this album stand out isn’t just the music itself—it’s the sheer audacity of it all. With credits ranging from legendary saxophonist Archie Shepp to turntablist eRikm, the lineup reads like a dream team of boundary-pushers. And let’s not forget Seb El Zin, who wore more hats than a milliner during production. He didn’t just produce; he recorded, mixed, mastered, and even came up with the concept. Dude deserves a medal or, at the very least, a really big hug. The artwork by Kiki Picasso is worth mentioning too—it’s as bold and weird as the music inside. Honestly, if someone told me this was made in collaboration with aliens, I wouldn’t bat an eyelid. So yeah, United Diktatürs of Europe isn’t for everyone. If you’re looking for easy listening, maybe stick to Spotify playlists labeled “Chill Vibes Only.” But if you want something that challenges you, surprises you, and occasionally confuses the heck out of you, this is it. Listening to it feels like attending a secret meeting where everyone speaks a slightly different language—but somehow, you still understand each other. Final thought? I’m pretty sure this album would make an excellent soundtrack for a heist movie set in a dystopian future. Or maybe a dinner party where no one knows each other but pretends they do. Either way, it’s unforgettable.

Claiming the influence of the kabbalist Abdul Vector Von Hassid, this sonic nation distills on its only record a raging mix of sharp noisy post-no-wave guitars and urgent rap.
