Album Review: Beverley Knight – 100 Beverley Knight’s 100, released back in 2009, is one of those albums that kinda sneaks up on you. It’s not flashy, but it’s got soul—like a warm hug from someone who really gets it. The UK singer dives deep into genres like R&B, Funk/Soul, and Contemporary R&B, which makes this record feel like a mixtape of all your favorite vibes rolled into one. Labels like Hurricane Records Ltd clearly knew they had something special here. Now, let me tell ya, there are some bangers on this thing. Tracks like “Soul Survivor” (especially the version featuring Chaka Khan) just hit different. Chaka’s voice blending with Beverley’s? Absolute fire. You can’t help but feel like you’re at some underground club where everyone’s vibing together—even if you’re just sitting in your living room. That track sticks with me because it’s got layers, man. It starts smooth, then builds into this powerhouse anthem about resilience. Honestly, I’ve probably looped it like 50 times already. Another standout for me is “In Your Shoes.” It’s the kind of song you blast when you need to remind yourself to keep pushing through life’s messes. The lyrics hit hard without being too preachy, and Beverley’s delivery is so raw—it feels like she’s singing directly to you. Plus, the groove? Chef’s kiss. Other tracks like “Moneyback” and “Bare” bring their own energy too, showing off how versatile Beverley is as an artist. And don’t even get me started on “Too Much Heaven”—it's got this dreamy vibe that’ll have you zoning out while pretending you’re in a rom-com montage or something. What strikes me most about 100 is how real it feels. There aren’t any overly polished edges; it’s more like Beverley invited us into her world and said, “Here’s what I’ve been going through.” It’s refreshing, honestly. Even though it came out over a decade ago, it still holds up today. Maybe even more so now, given how chaotic everything feels sometimes. So yeah, if you’re looking for an album that’ll make you wanna dance, think, and maybe cry a little—all at once—this might be the one. Oh, and fun fact? Listening to this made me realize my car speakers weren’t nearly loud enough. Guess I owe Beverley Knight a thank-you note for that upgrade!

One of her best albums...100% shows her versatility in this Dance focused production..Its a smooth accomplished affair with generally good material and some very polished vocals from BK,,,following a format that would sit comfortably in the mid to late 80.s era esque ..A very worthwhile effort and one worth owning
