Review by RONAK PANCHAL

Live On WZRD Swinging Junkies At The Metro – Chris Connelly Blows the Roof Off Alright, let’s get straight to it. This ain’t your polished, overproduced rock album. Nope. Live On WZRD Swinging Junkies At The Metro by Chris Connelly is raw, unfiltered, and dripping with attitude. Released back in 2002 in the US, this self-released gem hits hard like a punch to the gut—and you’ll love every second of it. First off, the tracklist reads like a manifesto for chaos: live versions of songs that feel alive, almost too alive. But two tracks really stuck with me—like chewing gum under a desk kinda stuck. First up, “Destimony III (Live)”. Holy crap, this one kicks off like a sledgehammer through drywall. It’s got this jagged energy, like Connelly just decided to rip open his soul onstage and let everyone see the mess inside. The guitar work? Razor-sharp. The vocals? Like gravel mixed with whiskey. You can practically hear the sweat dripping off the band as they tear into this thing. If you’re looking for something safe or predictable, nah, this ain’t it. This song grabs you by the collar and doesn’t let go until you’re gasping for air. Then there’s “What’s Left But Solid Gold? (Live)”, which feels like an anthem for anyone who’s ever been pissed off at life but still managed to smirk about it. The groove here is nasty—dirty basslines grinding against drums that sound like they were recorded in someone’s garage during a power outage. And Connelly’s voice? Dude sounds like he gargled glass before stepping up to the mic. There’s a swagger to this track that makes you wanna light a cigarette even if you quit years ago. By the time it ends, you’re left wondering how the hell he pulled that off without collapsing mid-set. Now, I gotta say, listening to this album feels less like hearing music and more like witnessing some kind of exorcism. Every track has its own bite, from the haunting vibes of “Ghost Of A Saint” to the chaotic sprawl of “London Fields.” Even the intro track slaps harder than most bands’ entire discographies. And yeah, sure, maybe the production quality isn’t perfect—it’s not supposed to be. That’s the point. This is rock ‘n roll stripped down to its bare bones, no frills attached. But here’s the kicker: halfway through writing this review, I realized something weird. Listening to Chris Connelly scream his guts out on stage reminds me why live albums matter. They’re not just recordings—they’re snapshots of moments when everything aligns perfectly, even if only for a few minutes. And honestly? After blasting this record, I don’t think I’ll ever look at live performances the same way again. So yeah, check this album out if you want rock that actually rocks. Just don’t blame me if your neighbors start complaining.
