Freygolo - We All Have A Voice

Review by William Cassidy

We All Have A Voice by Freygolo: A Punk-Rock Gem That Still Resonates Freygolo’s We All Have A Voice is one of those albums that sneaks up on you. Released in 2011 out of France, it blends punk grit with melodic hardcore energy and dashes of ska for good measure. It's raw, unfiltered, and packed with passion—like a sweaty basement show where everyone knows the words but no one cares if they sing off-key. The band’s lineup reads like a DIY dream team: François leading the charge with his raspy yet heartfelt vocals, Jeff shredding guitar riffs, Arnaud holding down the basslines, and Belzu smashing drums like there’s no tomorrow. Then you’ve got the brass section (hello, Rémi on trombone and Nico on trumpet!) adding this unexpected layer of swagger to tracks like “Friday Night.” Yeah, I said brass in a punk album. Deal with it. Let me tell you about two tracks that stuck with me long after the first listen. First up is “Dead and Gone.” This song hits hard—not just because of its relentless pace but also because of how relatable it feels. The lyrics are simple enough, but when François screams, "It’s dead and gone!" over pounding drums and wailing horns, it’s impossible not to feel something. Like maybe that thing you’ve been trying to forget? Yeah, this track brings it all back—and somehow makes it okay. Then there’s “Sitting On A Time Bomb,” which is basically an anthem for anyone who ever felt like their life was spiraling out of control. The opening riff grabs you right away, and the build-up to the chorus is pure chaos in the best way possible. There’s this moment halfway through where everything drops except for the keys—it’s haunting as hell and gives me chills every time. Honestly, it’s the kind of song that could soundtrack either your worst day or your wildest night. Either way, you’ll remember it. One thing I love about this record is how collaborative it feels. You can hear the chemistry between these guys—they’re not just playing instruments; they’re having conversations through music. And hey, shoutout to Alex Palmito for wearing multiple hats here (percussion, recording, mixing). Dude clearly had his hands full, but he nailed it. At the end of the day, We All Have A Voice isn’t perfect. Some tracks blend together, and yeah, there are repeated titles (looking at you, “Friday Night” x2). But honestly? That adds to its charm. It’s messy, loud, and unapologetically human—a reminder that sometimes imperfection is what makes art real. Here’s the kicker: Listening to this album now, over a decade later, feels kinda bittersweet. These dudes poured their hearts into something so specific to their time and place, yet it still resonates today. Maybe that’s what punk’s all about—making noise so people know they’re not alone. Or maybe I’m just overthinking it while blasting “Rotten” on repeat. Who knows? Anyway, check this album out if you haven’t already. Just don’t blame me if you start air-drumming at your desk.

Interesting fact about Album

Did you know? The album *We All Have A Voice* by Freygolo is a hidden gem in the punk and rock scene. Released in 2011 from France, it blends melodic hardcore, punk, and ska into an explosive mix. What’s cool is how collaborative it feels—like a musical team effort. For instance, Alex Palmito didn’t just play percussion; he also recorded, mixed, and mastered part of the album. And get this: there are two versions of "Friday Night" and multiple tracks with slightly different titles, like “Human's Chronicles” vs. “Human´s Chronicle.” It’s almost as if they wanted fans to catch those little details. Oh, and let’s not forget King Selewa jumping in on vocals for one track—that adds a whole new flavor! Definitely worth checking out if you love raw energy with a side of creativity.
