Cosmic Eye - Dream Sequence

Review by Hitesh Rohilla

Dream Sequence by Cosmic Eye: A Sonic Journey That Sticks With You Alright, let’s talk about Dream Sequence—the 2018 brainchild of Cosmic Eye. This album is like a patchwork quilt stitched together from rock, folk, jazz, and even some world vibes. It’s got prog rock swagger, psychedelic twists, and enough acoustic charm to make your gran put down her knitting needles (maybe). Released across the USA, Canada, UK, and Europe, it feels global in spirit but intimate in execution. Labels like The Roundtable, Silva Star, and Regal Zonophone helped bring this baby into existence, so props to them for backing something as wild as this. Now, onto the good stuff—the tracks. There are five songs here, but two really stick out for me: “Cosmac Eye” and “Dream Sequence II.” First up, “Cosmac Eye.” Oh man, this one hits different. From the get-go, Amancio D’Silva’s guitar work wraps around you like smoke curling off incense sticks. The sitar played by V. Jasani sneaks in halfway through, giving the whole thing an otherworldly vibe that screams “I’m not in Kansas anymore.” And can we take a moment for K. Sati’s tabla? Those rhythms feel alive, almost like they’re breathing alongside you. You don’t just listen to this track—you live inside it for its runtime. Honestly, I couldn’t tell you what I was doing when I first heard it because my brain went full-on vacation mode. Trippy yet grounded, chaotic yet serene—it’s hard to pin down, which makes it unforgettable. Then there’s “Dream Sequence II,” which feels like stepping into someone else’s lucid dream. The flute (courtesy of R. Swinfield) dances with alto and bass flutes like they’re at some secret woodland rave. T. Campo’s electric bass groans low and steady beneath everything, keeping the chaos tethered to Earth. What gets me every time though? The saxophone solo by A. Branscombe—it’s so smooth it could charm snakes out of their baskets. It’s the kind of song where you close your eyes and suddenly you’re floating downstream on a river made entirely of sound waves. Weird? Yeah. Amazing? Absolutely. The rest of the album holds its own too, blending genres like a mad scientist mixing potions. But those two tracks? They burrow deep under your skin and refuse to leave, which is exactly what great music should do. --- Here’s the kicker though—listening to Dream Sequence feels less like hearing an album and more like eavesdropping on a cosmic jam session between musicians who probably have tea with aliens on weekends. Sure, it’s a bit messy sometimes, but isn’t life supposed to be? If anything, this record reminds us that perfection is overrated anyway. So grab a pair of headphones, press play, and let yourself drift away. Who knows? Maybe you’ll wake up somewhere completely unexpected.
