Album Review: Kick Out The Jams by Cosmic Fall Released in 2017, Kick Out The Jams by Cosmic Fall is a raw and trippy journey through the realms of Psychedelic Rock, Stoner Rock, and Space Rock. Hailing from Germany, this quartet delivers an album that feels like a cosmic odyssey with its heavy riffs, mind-bending jams, and otherworldly vibes. Under the labels Not On Label and Clostridium Records, Cosmic Fall brings together a mix of talent: Mathias Rosmann on guitar, Klaus Friedrich handling bass duties (and artwork), Daniel Sax pounding the drums, and Sergej Kaminsky capturing it all through his lens. The record kicks off strong with "Purple Weed," a track that grabs your attention right away. It’s got this groovy, fuzz-laden riff that just pulls you into its orbit. What makes this song stick? Probably how effortlessly it blends heaviness with melody—something not every band can pull off without sounding forced. The rhythm section locks in tight while Rosmann's guitar work dances around like some kind of intergalactic wizard. You don’t forget tracks like these; they stay lodged in your brain like a good earworm should. Another standout is “Saturn Highway.” This one takes you on a ride—you feel like you’re cruising through space itself. The tempo shifts are clever but never overdone, giving the listener moments to breathe before launching back into high gear. Sax’s drumming deserves special mention here; he drives the track forward with precision but also lets loose when needed. By the time the solo hits, you're fully immersed in their sonic universe. If there’s one tune that showcases what Cosmic Fall does best, it’s this one. Other tracks like “White Stone” and “Interstellar Junction” further cement the band’s ability to craft immersive soundscapes. But honestly, if I’m being real, those two mentioned above are the ones that’ll have me hitting repeat. They’ve got hooks, grit, and enough psychedelia to keep things interesting without veering into self-indulgence. What strikes me most about Kick Out The Jams is how unpolished yet intentional it feels. There’s no attempt to smooth out the rough edges or make everything shiny for mainstream appeal—and thank god for that. Sometimes albums lose their soul chasing perfection, but Cosmic Fall avoids that trap entirely. Instead, they embrace imperfections as part of the vibe, which gives the whole thing an authentic charm. In conclusion, Kick Out The Jams isn’t just another rock album—it’s a trip worth taking. Whether you’re into headbanging or simply zoning out to some killer tunes, this record has something for everyone who appreciates music that dares to explore. And hey, if nothing else, at least now you know what Germans mean when they say “stoner rock.” Pretty cool, huh?
