Album Review: Fall Star Lunar by Guy J – A Progressive House Gem That Still Shines Let’s cut to the chase—Guy J’s Fall Star Lunar isn’t just another electronic album; it’s like that one friend who shows up uninvited but ends up being the life of the party. Released in 2008 under Bedrock Records (UK), this little beast of a record has aged better than most of us. With its progressive house vibes and two standout tracks, “Lunar” and “Fall Star,” it’s got enough groove to make your socks roll up and down on their own. First off, let’s talk about “Lunar.” This track is basically what would happen if the moon decided to throw a rave for itself. The beat builds so smoothly you don’t even realize you’re hooked until three minutes in, and suddenly you're dancing around your living room with a spatula as your mic. It’s hypnotic without trying too hard, kind of like those people at parties who are effortlessly cool while everyone else is awkwardly sipping warm beer. You remember “Lunar” because it feels alive—it breathes, pulses, and sneaks into your brain like an earworm ninja. Then there’s “Fall Star,” which hits different. If “Lunar” is the chill cousin, “Fall Star” is the wild sibling who crashes weddings just to dance on tables. There’s something about the way Guy Judah layers sounds here—it starts subtle, almost shy, then BAM! Outta nowhere comes this bassline that grabs you by the soul and shakes it till you laugh-cry. It’s not overly complicated, but man, does it work. I’ve caught myself zoning out during late-night drives listening to this track, only to snap back when some random car honks at me for stopping at green lights. Oops. Props where they’re due: Sweat Lodge managed the chaos behind the scenes, MD did justice to the sleeve design (though honestly, we all judge albums by their covers first), and Guy Judah himself—a triple threat wearing the hats of writer, producer, and overall sonic wizard—nailed it. He made music that doesn’t scream for attention but still demands respect. Kinda like that quiet kid in class who turns out to be secretly brilliant. Looking back, Fall Star Lunar reminds me why progressive house will always have a soft spot in my heart—and possibly also in my liver after one too many nights vibing to it. In a world full of flashy drops and overproduced bangers, this album stands tall as proof that sometimes less really is more. Final thought? Listening to this album feels like finding a twenty-dollar bill in an old pair of jeans—you didn’t expect much, but dang, are you glad you stuck around. Now excuse me while I go find my spatula again.

This song reminds me of a dark carnival with lights everywhere. It also reminds me of someone in the carnival trying to find someone they love and they can’t find them.
