Review by Richard Linares

Concertos Nos 1 Et 2 Pour Piano Et Orchestre: A Wild Ride Through Liszt’s Genius Alright, let’s get real for a second. This album ain’t your grandma’s easy-listening classical record—unless your grandma is into some seriously intense Romantic-era bangers. Released in ‘76 (yeah, the same year punk was blowing up), this gem from France Clidat and Roger Norrington packs a punch that’ll leave you breathless or scratching your head. Produced under Decca and IPG with credits stacked like a deck of cards, it doesn’t mess around. The tracks? Oh man, where do I even start? Let’s zoom in on two standouts: Allegro Maestoso – Quasi Adagio and Allegro Deciso. These aren’t just compositions—they’re full-on assaults on your eardrums, but in the best possible way. First up, Allegro Maestoso – Quasi Adagio. Holy crap, does this piece hit hard. It opens slow, almost teasing you, like “Hey, relax, we’re gonna ease into this.” But then BAM! The orchestra crashes in, and France Clidat’s piano work slams down like thunder. Her fingers are practically flying off the keys—it’s wild how she balances power with precision. You can feel every note vibrating through your chest, and trust me, it sticks with you long after the last chord fades. If you don’t rewind this track at least once, you’re either lying or dead inside. Then there’s Allegro Deciso. Now THIS one grabs you by the collar and shakes you awake. From the first beat, it’s relentless—like someone took all the drama of opera and crammed it into five minutes of pure adrenaline. The interplay between the piano and the orchestra feels like a duel, each side trying to outdo the other. And damn if they don’t both win. By the time it hits its final crescendo, you’re left gasping for air like you’ve been running a marathon. What makes these tracks unforgettable isn’t just their technical brilliance; it’s how raw they feel. Franz Liszt wasn’t messing around when he wrote them, and neither is Clidat when she plays them. She doesn’t just perform—she attacks. Every run, every trill, every booming chord screams passion and fury. This isn’t background music; this is front-and-center, demand-your-attention art. Now, here’s the kicker: listening to this album feels kind of like watching a storm roll in. At times, it’s overwhelming, chaotic even. But there’s beauty in that chaos—a reminder that life itself isn’t always neat and polished. Sometimes, it’s messy, loud, and unpredictable. And honestly? That’s what makes it worth living. So yeah, go listen to this thing. Just… maybe not while driving. Unless you want to accidentally floor it on the highway because Allegro Deciso made your heart race. Not speaking from experience or anything.

Born: October 22, 1811, Doborján, Austria-Hungary (present-day Raiding, Austria). Died: July 31, 1886, Bayreuth, Germany. Franz Liszt was a Hungarian composer, virtuoso pianist, conductor, music teacher, arranger, organist, philanthropist, author, nationalist and a Franciscan tertiary. He was a renowned performer throughout Europe, noted especially for his showmanship and great skill with the piano. To this day, he is considered by some to have been the greatest pianist in history. Liszt's musical invention went into territories which were then almost unexplored, in particular as regards harmonic research, as emerges from the late piano works, which led him to anticipate fragments of harmonies from the early twentieth century. His preference for program music is testified by the numerous symphonic poems he composed. Father-in-law to .

Interesting fact about Album

Here’s something cool: The album *Concertos Nos 1 Et 2 Pour Piano Et Orchestre* by Franz Liszt is a masterpiece of Romantic classical music. It was recorded in 1976 in France, featuring the talented pianist France Clidat. What makes it special? The recording team included an engineer named Manfred Melchior, who was known for his exceptional skill in capturing sound. The album showcases Liszt’s dramatic and emotional style, with tracks like *Allegro Agitato Assai* and *Quasi Adagio*. It’s wild to think that this piece, written over a century earlier, still resonates so powerfully thanks to the combined genius of Liszt, Clidat, and conductor Roger Norrington.
