Review by Charles Beare

Drömboken by Snufmumriko: A Dreamy Dive into Electronic Soundscapes If you're the kind of person who loves getting lost in moody, atmospheric beats, then Drömboken by Snufmumriko might just be your next obsession. Released in 2018 on the Swedish label Lagerstätte, this album is a masterclass in blending genres like Dub Techno, Ambient, IDM, and Experimental music. It's one of those records that feels like it was made for late-night headphone sessions or staring out rainy windows while sipping something warm. The brainchild behind this project is Ingmar Wennerberg, who not only wrote and produced the whole thing but also took care of the photography (props to him for wearing so many hats). Mastering duties were handled by Rob Small, ensuring everything sounds crisp yet dreamy—like stepping into a foggy forest where every sound feels intentional. Now, let’s talk tracks. With titles like Bryggan är fortfarande varm and Drömmar i juli, it's clear we’re dealing with some serious poetic vibes here. But two songs really stuck with me after spinning this album a few times: Eterspår and Noli Me Tangere. Eterspår hits differently—it’s got this slow-burning groove that sneaks up on you. The synths swirl around like smoke, and there’s this subtle bassline that feels almost hypnotic. I kept coming back to it because it’s both calming and kinda haunting at the same time. Like, imagine walking through an abandoned city at dawn; it’s peaceful but slightly eerie. That’s Eterspår in a nutshell. Then there’s Noli Me Tangere, which is Latin for “don’t touch me” (fancy, right?). This track stands out because it’s more stripped-down compared to others. There’s this delicate balance between minimal percussion and these lush pads that make it feel intimate, like someone whispering secrets directly into your ear. It’s the kind of song that makes you pause whatever you’re doing and just listen. What I love about Drömboken is how cohesive it feels despite its experimental nature. Every track flows seamlessly into the next, creating this immersive experience that’s hard to shake off once you’ve heard it. And honestly? It’s refreshing to see an artist put so much thought into both the music and visuals—those photos by Wennerberg are straight-up gorgeous. But here’s the unexpected part: as much as I enjoyed the album, I couldn’t help wondering if Ingmar ever gets tired of being a one-man show. Writing, producing, photographing—it’s impressive, sure, but doesn’t he ever want to hand over the camera or pass the mastering torch? Maybe he’s just a control freak, or maybe he’s onto something by keeping everything under his own vision. Either way, it works. So yeah, give Drömboken a spin if you’re into electronic music that leans more introspective than in-your-face. Just don’t blame me if you find yourself zoning out and missing your bus stop. Happened to me twice already.
