Alright, let’s dive into Stony Island Band Don’t Waste My Time by The Stony Island Band Jerry Washington. This funky little gem from 2006 is one of those albums that sneaks up on you when you least expect it. It’s got all the vibes—Funk, Soul, and even a dash of Disco—and it’s dripping with that raw UK flavor courtesy of Jazzman Records. First off, the title track, “Don’t Waste My Time,” hits hard right out the gate. I mean, this song doesn’t mess around. The groove grabs you by the collar and says, “Listen up!” There’s something about the bassline—it’s thick, slappy, and just won’t quit. Paired with Jerry Washington’s vocals, which are smooth but kinda gritty at the same time (you know what I mean?), it feels like he’s singing directly to your soul. Or maybe your feet, because damn, you can’t help but move to this. Every time I hear it, I’m reminded why funk exists: to make life feel less boring. Then there’s “Stony Island Band”—the other standout track here. If “Don’t Waste My Time” is the head-nodder, this one’s the full-body shaker. The horns! Oh man, they come in like a surprise party for your ears. You’re just vibin’, thinking everything’s chill, and then BAM—you’re hit with brass so bold it could wake up the neighbors. And the rhythm section? Tight as hell. Like, how do they stay so locked in without breaking a sweat? It’s almost unfair how good this track makes you feel. It’s not just music; it’s an experience. What gets me most about this album is how unapologetically real it feels. No flashy production tricks or overdone edits—just pure musicianship doing its thing. In a world where everything’s Auto-Tuned to oblivion, hearing something this authentic is refreshing. Plus, it’s impossible not to smile while listening to it. Seriously, try it. Even if you’re having a crap day, these tracks will pull you outta that funk (pun intended). Here’s the kicker though: after spinning this record a few times, I started wondering… why isn’t this band bigger? Like, huge? Maybe they didn’t care about fame, or maybe they were too busy grooving to worry about marketing themselves. Either way, it kinda makes you appreciate them more. They weren’t trying to be anything other than exactly who they were—a killer band making killer tunes. So yeah, give Stony Island Band Don’t Waste My Time a spin. It’s the kind of album that reminds you why music matters in the first place. And hey, if anyone asks why you’ve been dancing alone in your kitchen, just blame it on Jerry and the crew.

I'm new to this song, I have a jazzman 12' 45rpm bootleg and I think it sounds much much better with the pitch all the way down. It has more groove to it and the vocals sound richer, at least to me.
