Review by Alain Desauguste

Babil Junior Lalabel by Superobots Rocking Horse: A Retro Gem That Still Shines Let’s get one thing straight—this album isn’t your typical 1982 pop record. Nope. Babil Junior Lalabel by Superobots Rocking Horse is a quirky, colorful blast from the past that blends kids’ music with disco beats, electronic vibes, and just enough stagey drama to keep things interesting. Released in Italy under the RCA label, it’s got this playful charm that feels like someone decided to make a Saturday morning cartoon soundtrack but gave it some serious dance-floor potential. Now, let’s talk tracks. “Lalabel” kicks things off with an infectious groove that sticks to your brain like glitter on a toddler’s hands. The mix of light synths and bouncy melodies makes it impossible not to tap your feet. And can we give a shoutout to Roberta Petteruti for those backing vocals? They’re sweet without being too sugary, adding a layer of magic to the whole vibe. It’s the kind of song you’d hear at a kiddie party where even the parents end up dancing (no judgment here). Then there’s “Babil Junior.” Oh man, this one hits different. It’s got this theme-like quality, almost like it belongs in a forgotten Italian TV show or maybe a puppet theater production. There’s something about its catchy chorus and driving rhythm that makes me think of tiny robots doing the cha-cha. I dunno why—it just does. Maybe it’s the way the electronic elements blend so seamlessly with the pop structure. Either way, it’s stuck in my head now, and honestly? I don’t hate it. The rest of the album keeps the energy high with plenty of disco-inspired tunes and lighthearted fun. If you’re into nostalgic sounds that remind you of simpler times—or if you just love music that doesn’t take itself too seriously—this is worth checking out. Here’s the weird part, though: listening to Babil Junior Lalabel kinda feels like finding a time capsule buried in your grandma’s attic. You know, the one filled with neon-colored toys and mixtapes nobody remembers making. It’s equal parts nostalgia trip and discovery mission. Who knew Italian children’s music could be such a funky ride? So yeah, if you stumble across this album online or in some dusty record store corner, grab it. Trust me—you won’t regret adding a little robot-fueled disco to your playlist. Plus, it’s always cool to have something that’ll make people go, “Wait…what IS this?” at your next house party. And hey, bonus points if you can find Roberta Petteruti’s other work after rocking these backing vocals. Legend status unlocked.

Oggi a differenza di quegli anni, per intrattenere i bambini fanno porcherie animate senza senso. Peppa pig, capitan mutanda, curioso come George.
