Album Review: Te Vas A Acordar De Mí by Tex Tex (1994) Alright, let’s talk about Te Vas A Acordar De Mí, the 1994 rock album by Tex Tex. If you’re into raw, unfiltered Mexican rock with a gritty edge, this one might just hit the spot. Released under Bertelsmann De Mexico and BMG, this record has a vibe that feels like cruising through the streets of Mexico City at night—chaotic, emotional, and full of stories waiting to be told. The album kicks off with 13 tracks, but I’ll zoom in on two that really stuck with me: Te Vas A Acordar De Mí and El Hijo Desobediente (Policía Judicial). These songs feel like the heart and soul of the record. First up, the title track, Te Vas A Acordar De Mí. Man, this one’s got attitude. The lyrics are dripping with defiance, like a middle finger to someone who underestimated them. It’s catchy as hell too—those guitar riffs are sharp enough to cut glass, and the vocals have this raspy, lived-in quality that makes you believe every word. You can tell this was written by someone who’s been through some stuff. Honestly, it’s the kind of song that gets stuck in your head for days, whether you want it to or not. Then there’s El Hijo Desobediente (Policía Judicial), which is a whole different beast. This track feels like a mini-movie set to music. It’s got this storytelling vibe, almost like they’re narrating a scene from a crime drama. The pacing is slower, but it builds tension like crazy. By the time the chorus hits, you’re hooked. There’s something haunting about the way they blend melody and grit here—it’s not just a song; it’s an experience. Other tracks like La Niebla and Flor De Mayo bring their own flavors to the mix, but these two stood out to me because they’re so damn memorable. Tex Tex doesn’t mess around—they go straight for the gut with their lyrics and melodies. Looking back at this album, it’s wild to think it came out nearly 30 years ago. Rock music in Mexico during the '90s had its own unique energy, and Tex Tex nailed it with Te Vas A Acordar De Mí. It’s not perfect—some parts feel a little rough around the edges—but maybe that’s what makes it so real. Final thought? Listening to this album feels like finding an old Polaroid photo in your pocket. It’s faded and worn, but it tells a story you can’t forget. Oh, and here’s the kicker—I bet Tex Tex didn’t even realize they were creating something people would still be talking about decades later. How cool is that?
