Transport Aerian - DARKBLUE

DARKBLUE by Transport Aerian: A Sonic Gut-Punch That Sticks With You Alright, let’s cut the crap—DARKBLUE isn’t your run-of-the-mill rock album. Released in 2015 under Melodic Revolution Records, this US-born beast of a record dives headfirst into Prog Rock and Art Rock territory, but don’t expect some safe, predictable ride. No way. This thing grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go until it spits you out on the other side, gasping for air. First off, kudos to Transport Aerian for not playing it safe. Take “Sand Horizon,” for example. It’s like they took everything you thought you knew about melody and just torched it. The track starts with this eerie calm that tricks you into thinking you’re safe—but then BAM! Layers of jagged riffs crash over you like an ocean wave full of broken glass. And those time signature shifts? Pure chaos, man. But somehow it works. By the end, you're left wondering how something so disorienting can still feel so damn satisfying. Then there's “Epitaph.” Holy hell, if this song doesn’t stick in your brain like gum on a hot sidewalk, I dunno what will. It opens with these haunting vocals that sound like someone mourning the apocalypse, and before you know it, the guitars kick in harder than a steel-toed boot to the chest. There’s a raw energy here that feels almost unhinged, like the band was teetering on the edge of losing control—and maybe that’s the point. Whatever it is, it hits different. You won’t forget it anytime soon. Tracks like “Happy With The Future” and “Imperial” keep the momentum going, blending intricate arrangements with moments of sheer sonic brutality. Meanwhile, “Sniper” feels like a punch to the gut wrapped in silk—it lures you in with its groove, only to sucker-punch you with unexpected twists. These guys aren’t messing around; every note feels intentional, even when it seems like they’re flying off the rails. But honestly, what sticks with me most about DARKBLUE isn’t just the technical wizardry or the genre-bending madness. It’s the vibe—the sense that Transport Aerian didn’t give two shits about following trends or pleasing critics. They made exactly the kind of music they wanted to make, consequences be damned. That attitude bleeds through every second of this album, and it’s impossible not to respect. So yeah, DARKBLUE might not be everyone’s cup of tea. If you’re looking for easy listening or radio-friendly hooks, look elsewhere. But if you want an album that challenges you, pisses you off, and leaves you breathless all at once, this is it. Just one question remains: why does something this heavy feel so strangely liberating? Maybe that’s the real magic of DARKBLUE. Or maybe I’m just losing my mind. Either way, crank it up loud and see where it takes you.

About Transport Aerian

Transport Aerian is a progressive-oriented project led by a producer and multi-instrumentalist Hamlet. It sets no strict genre borders, knows no musical or spiritual limits. At the different times, the project had been working with different musicians, always changing and shifting its live and studio experiences depending on what the current creative state demands, performing drastically different kinds of music, yet always staying in the shape of the poetic, sharp-edged artistic kind. The projects philosophy is closest to those, calling themselves expressionists in poetry and fine arts, therefore, the inner side of the emotional expression is what intend to bring through the projects music to whoever is willing to hear the word said.
