Cure Light Wounds by Weldroid – A Glitchy, Gritty Masterpiece That Doesn’t Hold Back Alright, let’s get one thing straight: Cure Light Wounds isn’t for the faint of heart. This 2014 release from UK-based producer Weldroid is a wild ride through the jagged edges of IDM and leftfield electronica. Released under Kahvi Collective—a label known for pushing boundaries—this album feels like it was built to mess with your brain while keeping your feet glued to the floor. And trust me, once you dive into its glitch-heavy chaos, there’s no turning back. First off, shoutout to “Phaser Square.” Holy crap, this track hits hard. It’s got this cold, mechanical vibe that punches you right in the chest but somehow makes you wanna move at the same time. The beats stutter and snap like broken machinery, while these eerie synth lines creep up on you outta nowhere. You can tell Weldroid wasn’t playing it safe here—he’s throwing everything at the wall just to see what sticks. And damn if it doesn’t work. Every time I hear those chopped-up rhythms kick in, I feel like my headphones are about to explode. It’s messy as hell, but that’s exactly why it sticks in my head. Then there’s “Escape From New York,” which sounds like the soundtrack to some dystopian heist movie nobody asked for but everyone secretly wants. The bassline slithers around like a snake looking for trouble, and the percussion feels like raindrops hitting metal in slow motion. There’s something almost cinematic about it, like you’re running through neon-lit alleyways trying not to get caught. Honestly? This track could easily double as the intro music for a cyberpunk video game. It’s ruthless, unapologetic, and weirdly addictive—all the things good electronic music should be. The rest of the album keeps the energy high too. Tracks like “Kodama Rebuilt II” and “Flying Fist” bring their own brand of mayhem, each one more unpredictable than the last. Even the remixes (shoutout to “Leaving Quietly (Remix)”) add layers of depth without feeling lazy or tacked-on. Weldroid clearly put thought into every second of this record, even when it sounds like he didn’t give a damn. That’s the magic of it. But here’s the kicker: listening to Cure Light Wounds feels less like enjoying an album and more like surviving one. It’s exhausting in the best possible way, like being chased through a maze by robots programmed to drop sick beats. By the end of it, you’re not sure whether to cheer or collapse. Maybe both. So yeah, if you’re looking for background music to sip coffee to, keep scrolling. But if you want something raw, chaotic, and utterly unforgettable, Weldroid’s got your fix. Just don’t blame me when your ears start bleeding—you’ve been warned. P.S. Fun fact: diclofenac and desloratadine are actual medications. What does that have to do with anything? Absolutely nothing. Which kinda sums up this whole project perfectly.

About Weldroid

Those little robotic things living in the forest tend to like the noises he makes... Weldroid is the 8-bit emulation of an electrical engineer, a CGI artist, and a coffee connoisseur merged into one person and left alone in the middle of a forest, in the middle of a forgotten peninsula, built of discarded and ancient electronic devices and lots of copper wire.
