Review by MIGUEL ANGEL CALDERON RAMIREZ

KESS02 by Xaõ Seffcheque: A Sonic Head-Trip Through Sweden’s Industrial Underbelly Let’s get one thing straight—this album doesn’t care if you “get it” or not. KESS02 is the kind of record that smashes genres together like a toddler with too many Legos, and somehow, it all fits. Released in 2016 on the delightfully weird Kess Kill label (Sweden represent!), this beast straddles everything from EBM to Synthwave, with enough industrial grit to sandblast your eardrums clean. It's experimental, noisy, and occasionally bonkers—but damn, does it stick. The opening track Kassa-BuBu hits you like an overzealous bouncer at a Berlin club—loud, abrasive, and oddly charming once you stop resisting. The beat stomps along like Frankenstein learning how to dance, while layers of distorted synths swirl around like someone spilled glitter juice into a malfunctioning fax machine. You’ll either hate it or love it; there’s no middle ground here. I remember this track because it feels like trying to solve a puzzle where half the pieces are missing. And honestly? That’s kinda thrilling. Then there’s Eine Nacht In Deutschland. If Kraftwerk got into a bar fight with Nitzer Ebb, this would be their reconciliation jam. It’s dark, brooding, and dripping with New Wave nostalgia. The drums (courtesy of Rainer Mackenthun) clatter like old typewriters in a haunted office building, while the vocals sound like they were recorded through a broken megaphone buried under six feet of existential dread. This one sticks because it’s moody as hell but still makes you wanna move. Bonus points for being just German enough to make non-German speakers feel vaguely inadequate. The production credits read like a who’s who of underground coolness: Fredrik Möller and Titta Kallio did the artwork, which looks like what happens when David Lynch designs rave flyers. Mastered by Rude 66 and remastered by Tom Morgenstern, so yeah, it sounds as sharp as a freshly sharpened pencil jabbed into your brain. Shoutout to Ar/Gee Gleim for the photography, though—I don’t know what they shot, but it probably involved smoke machines and dramatic lighting. Here’s the kicker about KESS02: it’s not background music. It demands your attention, slaps you upside the head, and says, “Hey, listen up!” Whether it’s the relentless energy of Kassa-BuBu or the gothic swagger of Eine Nacht In Deutschland, this album isn’t afraid to push buttons. Maybe even yours. Final thought: Listening to KESS02 feels like finding a secret door in your grandma’s attic and realizing it leads to a neon-lit dystopia. Weird? Absolutely. Worth it? Oh yeah. Just don’t blame me if you start hearing these songs in your sleep.

Interesting fact about Album

Did you know that the album *KESS02* by Xaõ Seffcheque is a wild mix of electronic genres, blending Industrial, EBM, and Synthwave? Released in 2016 on the Swedish label Kess Kill, it’s got this raw, experimental edge. The track *Eine Nacht In Deutschland* even features gritty drum work by Rainer Mackenthun. Plus, the mastering was done by Rude 66, who added their own industrial touch. It’s like a chaotic yet curated audio journey, with artwork as bold as the music itself.

Xao was so far ahead of the pack - a total visionary who was mapping out the parallel future of sound with this song a blend of fifties R'N'Roll and 80s Minimal Wave - as though the 60s and 70s never existed!

Contacted Xao himself in 1999-2000 to try to get a copy. He couldn't find one so he burned me a CD from his own vinyl !!!
